Our dreams of a Gossip GirlGossip Girl reunion have just been crushed, courtesy of one Chuck Bass.

Speaking to the Radio Times, actor Ed Westwick (who played the show’s amoral anti-hero from 2007 to 2012) revealed that we’re very unlikely to see our favourite Upper East Siders back on screen any time soon, despite the current obsession with TV reboots.

‘Nah, that’s not gonna happen,’ he said when asked whether he’d be keen to revive the teen drama. ‘I know there’s a bunch of them coming back – I hear they’re doing Will and Grace, they’ve done Gilmore Girls… But it’s such a strange thing to think about. It feels like we only just finished! And I haven’t done enough in between yet to feel like I could comfortably revisit it. And I did so much with that character – it’s played out, man. It’s done.’

There is, however, one scenario in which the actor would be keen to return to the Upper East Side: if Netflix poured huge amounts of money into the show. ‘I’ll do it then. Hundred per cent,’ he told the magazine.

Discussing his time on the show, Westwick (currently starring as an 80s double-glazing salesman in BBC Two’s White Gold alongside two former Inbetweeners) also revealed how glad he was that Chuck’s character was able to develop over Gossip Girl’s six series, explaining ‘I was the only character who got to do that –or maybe one of two – ‘cause I know some of the other guys were a little frustrated with some of the storylines they got.’ Which cast members are being referred to? We’ll have to assume that, in the spirit of the show, that’s one secret he’ll never tell. XOXO.
