Gemma Collins is the ultimate celebrity conundrum, she’s hilarious, a self-esteem icon, tragically self-sabotaging but also kind of a massive dick. She’s the reality TV legend you want to love, and do, until she does something so painfully harsh you have to reassess your undying support for the meme Queen.
Currently appearing on Celebs Go Dating, Gemma – true to form – has had a series of dating disasters. However, when she met Laurence, who is extra keen to impress Gemma, fans were hoping she had finally found a fella willing to put in the effort she deserves. In fact, after proposing to whisk her off to Paris for their second date, Gemma seemed more than excited.
However, fans were left raging (or as raging as you can be about a reality TV show that literally has no impact on your life) after Gemma stood Laurence up at King’s Cross, where he was waiting on the Eurostar platform with chocolates and flowers.
Viewers were quick to let their feelings be known, dubbing Gemma ‘selfish’, ‘rude’ and ‘mean’.
In a move that screams publicity stunt, Gemma has responded by tweeting, ‘find out Sunday the real reason why I didn’t go’. Whether or not she has a valid excuse, we doubt fans will be satisfied, since it really doesn’t take much to send a text saying you can’t go.
All we can do is exactly what they want, and tune in on Sunday to find out, it’s bound to be a drama-filled one. Gemma’s place on the show could actually be in jeopardy, with matchmaker Eden stating ‘we’ve fired people for less’.
So, will Gemma be dropped for her indisputably rude behaviour? We doubt it, she’s providing all the drama, comedy and dating faux pas the show is known for
