Sarah Ferguson, the former wife of Prince Andrew and without doubt one of the most scandal-prone members of the royal family, has been reportedly snubbed ahead of the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle by her ex-brother-in-law Prince Charles.
While the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie is on the 600-strong guest list for the St George’s Chapel Ceremony, she is rumoured to be missing out on the more exclusive evening soiree: a bash hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House.
An insider told the Daily Mail: ‘Numbers are limited to the evening party, she is not a member of the Royal Family any more and Prince Charles simply doesn’t have time for her. He just can’t see why she is still such a big part of his brother’s life.’
Prince Harry is believed to have personally intervened to ensure that his aunt was on the guest list, following years of her being kept at arm’s length by the royals. He is close to her daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and she is said to have already met Meghan, too. She was famously missed off the guest list for Prince William’s 2011 nuptials to Kate Middleton.
Indeed, the former Duchess of York still lives with Prince Andrew at Royal Lodge in Windsor, and the couple enjoy a close friendship, despite getting divorced two decades ago. Relations towards her have thawed enough in recent years to see her appearing in the royal box at Ascot and on the family holiday to Balmoral, too.
