Jamie Lynn Spears appeared on Good Morning America for a tell-all interview, to promote her memoir, Things I Should Have Said. This is the first time she has spoken in depth publicly about her fractured relationship with her sister, Britney Spears, the conversorshipand her personal struggles. Here's everything we learned from the explosive interview...

The conservatorship

While fighting to end her conservatorship, Britney repeatedly publicly called out her family - including Jamie Lynn, She accused her relatives of failing to support her and using the guardianship to 'live off her for the last 13 years.'

Jamie Lynn alleges she had nothing to do with the conservatorship, 'When [the conservatorship] was put into place I was 17 years old [and] I was about to have a baby so I didn't understand what was happening nor was I focused on that. I was focused on the fact I was a 17-year-old about to have a baby.'

'I [understood] just as little about it then as I do now,' she added.

Jamie Lynn said that she made several attempts over the years to try and help her sibling get out of it. She said, 'I've always been my sister's biggest supporter so when she needed help I set up ways to do so.'

'[I] went out of my way to make sure that she had the contacts she needed to possibly go ahead and end this conservatorshipand just end this all for our family. If it's going to cause this much discord, why continue it?

'It wasn't about [whether or not I agreed] with the conservatorship; everyone has a voice and it should be heard so if she wanted to talk to other people then I did, I set that up.'

Jamie Lynn also revealed that Britney asked for her help in ensuring that her two sons, Sean and Jayden were taken care of in her absence. There was a time where my sister asked me – of her trust and will – if I would be the person who assured that her boys got what they needed.

The breakdown of the Spears' household

In her book, Jamie Lynn writes about her estranged father Jamie and his 'struggles with alcohol.' Speaking on the topic further on Good Morning America Jamie Lynn admitted that it 'created a lot of anxiety' for her. 'The hardest part was like, "Could I trust you? Are you drinking? Are you not?" It was something that no kid should have to question,' she commented.

'I adored [Britney], she just felt like everything to me. I felt like she was another momma.'

However, Jamie Lynn also admitted that her sister's superstar domination also had a a difficult impact on her own childhood - particularly when she fell pregnant with her first child at 16 years old.

Jamie Lynn told her family about her pregnancy in December 2007, months before her sister's public meltdown, which sparked the implementation of her conservatorship. During the interview she revealed that the resulting public scrutiny made her situation a lot harder to navigate.

'I look back and I think, "Wow, how is this acceptable?"' she shared. 'Why are you here other than to shame me and to benefit off a young girl who's going through something already so traumatic and so deep and personal? We say we do better, but now we just go into the comments on Instagram and do it.'

Jamie said she battled intense pressure from her family to get an abortion in her memoir, or to give her baby up for adoption.

'The entire Spears team was already caught up in my sister's PR difficulties and everyone around me just wanted to make the issue [her pregnancy] disappear'.

Jamie Lynn and Britney Spears' fractured relationship

Jamie Lynn went on to speak out about the rift between herself and Britney, insisting that she 'doesn't know why they are in this position.'

In July last year, Britney called out a sister's performance at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards, during which Jamie Lynn performed a remix of her hit song Till the World Ends. 'I don't like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed my songs to remixes,' Britney penned alongside an Instagram post. 'My so-called support system hurt me deeply!'

A few days later Britney publicly spoke out against her sister again in a now deleted post, describing Jamie Lynn as a 'mean ass' because she didn't stand up for her against their estranged father.

Referring to her sister's criticism of her performance, Jamie Lynn defended herself, 'Honestly, it was somewhat confusing to me about that,' she said. She concluded that she has spoken to her sister about the controversy and believes that Britney was never 'personally upset with her'.

Despite the tension in their relationship, Jamie Lynn still has a lot of love for her sibling. 'That love is still there 100 per cent,' she said. 'I love my sister. I've only ever loved and supported her and done what's right by her and she knows that.'
