Eva Mendes has made her first public appearance in six months at the opening of the New York & Company store in Miami to debut her brand new fashion line. The actress made her return in an aqua Alonza one-shoulder maxi dress from her own collection, and looked as beautiful as ever.
The Place Beyond The Pines star has been keeping out of the spotlight while she raises her two daughters, and was last pictured at New York Fashion Week in September 2016. She was absent from every award ceremony this season while her husband(?) Ryan Gosling basked in the glory of playing Sebastian in the Oscar-nominated film La La Land.
Eva and Ryan's relationship is notoriously private; they are rarely pictured together and not a lot is known about their private life. After speculation surrounding Eva's reasoning for not attending the Oscars - where Gosling was up for a Best Actor Academy Award - she revealed that she was at home with her daughters, Esmerelda Amada, born in 2014, and Amada Lee, born early last year. Ryan took along his sister, Mandi, instead.
'What people don't know about me is that I love being home. Instead of hitting the red carpet, I'd rather be with our girls,' she told Shape.
Depsite being absent through his award-nominated success, Ryan did thank his 'sweetheart' in his Golden Globe acceptance speech.
'I would like to try to thank one person properly, and say while I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with her second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer,' Ryan said.
'If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, it would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you.'
Ryan even revealed that Eva actually came up with one of the most iconic linesin La La Land.
