This weekend saw one of our favourite former couples – Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield - reunited at the Governor Awards, where they continued to prove that they are indeed Hollywood’s friendliest exes (and giving us a teeny tiny bit of hope that one day they might reunite).

The twosome were spotted chatting and laughing throughout the ceremony and according to E! News, ‘spent time chatting at almost every opportunity’.

This latest reunion comes after the news that Stone has moved on from her former Spider-Man beau with SNL comic Dave McCary, who she has been dating since the summer. She even supported him at the premiere of his film Brigsby Bear in June, although nothing was made of it at the time.

Garfield and Stone dated on and off for four years after meeting on the set of Spider-Man in 2010, when they played on-screen couple Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey. At the height of their fame, they were followed relentlessly by paparazzi, often using the attention as an excuse to spotlight their favourite causes with hand-written notes.

Despite largely keeping their relationship private, the duo would support each other at red carpet events and often appeared together to promote the Spider-Man films. They have never shied away from gushing about each other to the press, too, with Garfield saying post-breakup that he was ‘constantly inspired by [Stone’s] work’. He gave her a standing ovation when she won her Golden Globe for Best Actress and was seen with tears in his eyes as she picked up her Oscar.

And with Hollywood exes reuniting left, right and centre at the moment – from Selena Gomez and Jusitn Bieber to Jenny Slate and Chris Evans (not to mention our own Alexa Chung and Alex Turner) we’re still holding out hopes that these two might get back together...
