Season four of The Crown hasn't even aired yet - we can't wait, btw - but the cast of season five and six are already being announced. Earlier in the year, it was revealed that Jonathan Pryce and Imelda Staunton would be joining the series, as Prince Philip and the Queen respectively. Then, we found out that Elizabeth Debicki, was has starred in Widows, Tenet, The Great Gatsby and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, will be taking over from Emma Corrin, who will play Diana in the next series.
'Princess Diana's spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many,' Elizabeth said in a statement. 'It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.'
If new rumours are true, Elizabeth will star opposite Dominic West, who is alleged to be close to signing on the dotted line to play Prince Charles.
The final two series of the show will cover the break-up of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' marriage and her death in 1997. It's also expected that the last two series will cover the deaths of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother, seven weeks apart in 2002, and the Queen's Golden Jubilee that summer.
It was previously thought there wouldn't be a sixth series of the show, but creator Peter Morgan changed his mind when writing the storylines for the fifth series. 'As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,' he said, sixth months after Netflix announced there wouldn't be a series six. 'To be clear, series six will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.'
