Congratulations are in order for Eddie Redmayne and his wife Hannah Bagshawe, who have revealed that they are expecting their second child.
The couple’s representative confirmed the happy news to the Daily Mail after Hannah was photographed at an event last night showing the slightest sign of a baby bump. ‘Eddie and Hannah Redmayne are delighted to confirm they are expecting their second child,’ the statement read.
Eddie and Hannah, who first met as teenagers, were married at Babington House in December 2014, and welcomed their first child, Iris Mary Redmayne, on 15th June 2016.
The pair have not yet revealed a due date for the new addition to their family; during his wife’s first pregnancy, the Oscar-winning star of The Theory of Everything and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them spoke about their decision to keep their baby’s sex ‘a surprise.’
‘I was like, “maybe we should find out,” and my wife’s like, “We’re not finding out,”’ he joked on the red carpet at the 2016 Oscars. ‘She wears the trousers. It’s one of the great surprises that still exists in the world.’
Discussing his new role as a father last autumn, Eddie told Entertainment Tonight: ‘I don’t think anything can prepare [you for parenthood.] The amazing thing is, everything that everyone tells you beforehand – which is all cliché – is true. You’ve heard it all before, and yet when you’re experiencing it, it feels like the first time, and you suddenly start telling everyone these things as if they’re completely new and original thoughts. And they’re like, “Yeah, that’s the cliché.”’
‘But all the things [like] different parts of your heart opening […] it’s really extraordinary,’ he continued. ‘There’s this amazing thing with children – whenever you’re having a bit of a tired moment or something, it’s like, she’s always just one stop ahead of you, smiling you along. It’s great.'
