He's 32, and the son of Worcestershire's Lord Lieutenant Patrick Holcroft and wife Annie, who was the publishing director of Vanity Fair. Fancy.

Aside from his well-received performance in London Spy, Ed is best known for roles in Kingsman: The Secret Service, Alias Grace, Wolf Hall and Lady Chatterley's Lover.

He studied Philosophy at Oxford Brookes, but his involvement in a play there gave him the acting bug and he went on to do a masters at the Central Saint Martins' Drama Centre. Before this he attended Ampleforth College, a Catholic boarding shool in Yorkshire.

He dated Prince Harry's ex Cressida Bonas in the summer of 2015, before they split that September. It was reported at the time of the split that Bonas' parents didn't approve of Holcroft because they favoured Harry. Hmmmmmm.

Ed Holcroft was named as one of Screen Daily's 'UK stars of tomorrow' in 2014 and one of Variety's '10 Brits To Watch' in 2018.

His actor pals include Freddie Fox and Douglas Booth.

Don't expect to see Holcroft's private life splashed all over the papers – he said in a recent interview with Rollercoaster magazine that he intends to keep an "air of mystery" about himself.
