Isn't it awkward when you turn up to an event wearing the same outfit as someone else? Well, we imagine that feeling of embarrassment might be somewhat magnified if you're a celeb at a huge award ceremony. But luckily, at the Grammys, Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa had Donatella Versace on hand to rescue them when they were both on stage wearing the same Versace dress.
The pair were presenting the best new artist award - and they quickly called on Donatella to help when they found they were both wearing the same black Versace dress and black patent leggings. Megan - who called herself the 'Versace hottie' - jokily accused Dua of 'stealing [her] look', whereas Dua responded: 'Well I was told I had the exclusive. I’m going to have to have a talk with Donatella.' Then, as if by magic, legendary designer Donatella appeared, removing fabric from both popstars dresses to create slightly different looks.
While those watching loved the presenting dynamics between Dua and Megan - who have just teamed up on their latest single Sweetest Pie - others on the internet also quickly noticed that the trio were probably paying tribute to a similar moment in 1998, when Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston were both wearing the same outfit when they presented an award at the 1998 VMAs - before Carey removed the bottom half of her own dress. (Pop queens referencing pop queens.)
Megan and Dua have both previously won best new artist at the Grammys, and this year the award went to the big winner of the night, pop superstar Olivia Rodrigo. Olivia also won the trophies for best pop vocal album for Sour and pop solo performance for her hit Drivers License. However, while she might have bagged three awards, she couldn't carry them all - as she dropped one at the winners' press conference, causing it to break in half. Celebs, they're just like us.
