CBeebies have already had the likes of actor Tom Hardy, athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme featuring on their childrens' series. Now Dolly Parton has signed up, to read 'Dog Loves Books' by author and illustrator Louise Yates.

Parton, known by her fans for belters including 'Islands in the Stream' and 'Jolene', was delighted to be part of the show.

She said in a statement 'It’s an honour to be reading for CBeebies Bedtime Stories as encouraging children to develop a love of books from an early age is very important to me', adding 'I hope my songs and stories inspire the CBeebies audience in the UK. Thank you for having me!'.

Parton's appearance on the BBC show coincides with the release of her first children's album, which is titled 'I Believe In You', from which the profits will go to Imagination Library (a free book giving programme and the singer's own charity).
