If you never got into The Crown, then perhaps we can tempt you with the new musical about Princess Diana that's coming to Netflix? Yes, you read that correctly - a musical about Princess Diana is coming to Netflix.

With the pandemic completely ruining the theatre and live industry, the musical - which was scheduled to open on Broadway earlier this year - is going to be filmed specially for the streaming service without an audience. However, even though it's making its debut online, there's still plans for Diana to open onstage on May 25, 2021, when hopefully everything is a bit more normal.

So, who's in it? The cast stars Jeanna de Waal (who has been in musicals like Kinky Boots and Waitress) as Princess Diana and Roe Hartrampf as Prince Charles.

'We speak for the entire company when we say that we couldn’t be more excited to finally be able share our show with theater lovers everywhere,' the producers said in a joint statement. 'Though there is no substitute for the live theater, we are honored to be a part of the quality entertainment that Netflix provides its subscribers worldwide.'

As the industry adapts to the pandemic in new ways, this will be the first musical to be streamed before it opens. But there's obviously a market for it, as people flocked to Disney+ earlier this year when Hamilton was released during lockdown. We know we'll be watching anyway.

With a few tweaks (a more exaggerated wrap front, ditching the bow and the lace inset) this floral style wouldn't be too far from 2018's ubiquitous day dress.

The Kate - Diana comparison is one that gets a little too much airtime, but we could actually see the Duchess wearing this delicately printed, tiered style.
