Beyoncé’s Coachella set stands out as one of her best performances to date - leading many to dub the music festival Beychella - with the undeniable highlight being when Destiny’s Child reunited on-stage. Now, it seems we might be treated to even more girl band goodness, with the news that Beyonce is taking the girl group on tour with her later this year.
According to The Sun, Destiny’s Child will reunite once again on Beyoncé’s tour with Jay-Z, On The Run II, which kicks off on the 25th June in the United Sates. Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams will join Beyoncé on stage for a series of dates, under growing pressure for the band to announce an all-out reunion following their outstanding Coachella set.
An insider told the paper, ‘[Beyoncé] worked tirelessly on her Coachella headline performance, but the crowning moment was her medley with Kelly and Michelle. They really enjoyed working together again after so long and now Bey is keen for them to be part of On The Run II.’
While Rowland and Williams both ‘have their own work commitments and families’, the insider revealed they ‘could fly out for certain dates to surprise fans because they’re all aware of the demand for a reunion’.
Given that 2018 marks 20 years since the band released their self-titled debut album, which gave rise to hits such as ‘No, No, No’ and ‘With Me’, the reunion is a well-timed and much-needed surprise. Plus, the added bonus of a Destiny’s Child reunion could appease fans who were previously disappointed Beyoncé wasn’t embarking on a solo tour this year.
Now the world is waiting for official confirmation from the band, and which lucky ticket holders will be lucky enough to see the reunion live.
