I’m a Celebrity 2024is in full swing, and while we’re used to seeing the stars brave the jungle each night on our TV screens, what about their families at home? This week, Vicky Jones took to Instagram to reveal she’s finding it hard to watch her brother, McFly’s Danny Jones, in the jungle.
In the emotional video, Vicky wiped away tears and said she was feeling ‘sad’ about missing her brother. ‘I'm really hormonal, but I just feel really, really sad because I just miss my brother,’ she said, before quipping ‘I'm eating a hash brown and he can't eat one.’ She added ‘nothing like a hormonal Tuesday morning ugly cry until you laugh... supportive husband laughing at me in the background.’
This came after Vicky appeared on Lorraine to chat about her brother’s emotional episode in the jungle. On Wednesday’s episode, Danny broke down in tears while discussing his long-standing battle with anxiety as a teenager, including a panic attack he had on live TV. On Lorraine, Vicky said ‘It was really nice to see that side to him to see a more vulnerable side to him, you always see this party kind of character. He is that, he totally is that, he's the life and soul but yeah I was really proud of him for that.’
The conversation started after Danny was asked about a tattoo on his wrist, which says ‘don't worry, be happy.’ He responded ‘It's because I'm always constantly worrying, but that's what I'm working on, continuing ‘Yeah, I've been in therapy since I was 19 for anxiety.’ Speaking about the panic attack he had on live TV, Danny said ‘I was freaking out and I couldn’t answer the question that got asked to me.’ he explained. As he felt the camera on him, he said he felt himself go white and experienced the urge ‘to puke,’ adding ‘Heart rate goes crazy.’
Who is Vicky Jones?
Vicky Jones, like Danny, was musically-minded from a young age. In 2014, Vicky took part in the third series of talent show The Voice and impressed the judges, but she was eliminated during the battle round.
Speaking about her time on The Voice to Bolton News, Vicky said ‘Since finishing The Voice my life has been a complete whirlwind, mainly because I have been making the show work for me, as at the end of that road you're kind of left in limbo,’ continuing ‘I love how the show has given me a push and a reason to strive and believe again but I also understand that it's not a deal breaker and you really do have to do the groundwork yourself. It isn't an instant career maker or a fairy godmother.’
When Danny’s father walked out on the family when he was eighteen, he co-write the song ‘Don't Know Why’ with Vicky. In 2014, Vicky took to the stage at the O2 in London to support McBusted – the merger of the boybands McFly and Busted.
Danny and Vicky are close, and Danny even walked her down the aisle when she got married. He told Hello that he was overwhelmed with emotion when he saw his sister in her wedding dress. 'I didn't expect that,' he said, wiping away the tears. 'It was a really special moment,' said Vicky. 'The three of us have such a strong bond.'
How old is Vicky Jones?
Vicky Jones is 38 years old.
What did Vicky Jones send as a gift to Danny Jones in the jungle?
An episode this week saw the celebrity campmates receive much-needed luxury gifts from their families – but Danny’s looked rather different. Danny received a lilo, which he presumed was sent by his six-year-old son Cooper – but Vicky said it was actually the adult’s decision to send one.
‘I just need to say in our defence, we agonised over this. Me and Georgie were chatting for ages and were like, 'Yeah, he could use a lilo on the creek for entertainment or as a blow up bed or an extra pillow. And I don't think that landed at all,’ Vicky said. ‘Everyone else got really nice presents - and he got an inflatable. Hopefully he gets some good weather and he can use it.’
What have Danny Jones' family members said about his time in the Jungle?
Danny’s wife Georgia recently spoke about how the singer has a secret way of communicating with his son during his stint in the Jungle. ‘Cooper has got a little signal that he watches out for, Danny has done it!’ She continued ‘He is loving it! I still don't think he fully understands the grandeur of it. He did say to me this morning, 'Mummy, Daddy is going to be so famous after this show'. I went, he's kind of a little bit famous already!’
