Daisy Lowe has candidly spoken about an abortion she had when she was younger. Speaking on Mel B{ =nofollow}’s The Truth Flirts podcast, the model said she ‘wasn’t ready to be a mum’, but that her then-boyfriend had wanted her to keep the baby. ‘It was heartbreaking,’ she said. ‘But I’m so grateful I didn’t have that baby. I would have sacrificed a lot and I wouldn’t have been the best mum at the time.'

‘I did get pregnant and I did need to make the choice and I chose to have one [an abortion],' she added. 'I had to go to the clinic and it was heartbreaking. He called me when I was having the scan and I was like, there's a healthy heartbeat, he said, "You’ve got to keep it, we’ve got to keep it, let's do this." I was like, "Are you fucking kidding me?" I was like "I can’t’!"'

On the podcast, Mel B asked if Lowe would be able to date someone who had differing ideas on abortion{ =nofollow}. ‘I wouldn’t be able to date someone who had conflicting ideas on abortion, no,’ she said. ‘Because it’s every woman’s right to do whatever they do. Ultimately there are a lot of very unwanted, unwell kids in the world who need a whole lot of love.’

She continued, ‘The planet is overpopulated enough, so why should we bring unwanted kids into the world. I think it’s important. It’s a heartbreaking decision to make. I’m really grateful that I had the choice growing up.’

The former Strictly star – who is now thought to be dating singer Jack Penate – also spoke about her bad relationships on the podcast, saying that one of the exes followed her into the shower and called her ‘disgusting’ for gaining weight. She said, 'He pointed at me and said “You’re so disgusting, you need to lose weight so you can get work”. And I was like you know what, we’re done. You and me, over, bye!’
