We love Chrissy Teigen for many, many reasons - mostly for being hilarious on the internet - but now we have another reason to adore her. It turns out she is as big of a Love Island fan as we are. Even if the accents - and the places - don’t always translate from wherever she’s watching across the Atlantic.

Yesterday, the model asked Twitter for comparisons between cities in the US andthe UK{ =nofollow}. ‘Can someone list a few cities/counties mentioned in Love Island UK and give me a US comparison,’ she asked the internet. ‘Like what city here would be the equivalent of Essex? Suffolk? Tottenham? Wherever else!’

Predictably, the results were hilarious - with hundreds of Twitter users chiming in their thoughts. One guy even went to the trouble of typing out some comparisons on his notes, equalling New York with London (obvious), Los Angeles with Manchester (understandable) and San Francisco with Leeds (which some have called a stretch). He also said Dallas is similar to Edinburgh and that Houston and Glasgow would be twinned.

ITV2 also had their input, and compiled a list for Teigen, saying that ‘London - Washington/NY. Essex - Jersey Shore. Edinburgh - Minnesota. Manchester - LA. Scottish Isles - North Dakota.’

After lots of discussion on the topic, one tweeter tried to summarise, ‘We're all agreed that Essex = New Jersey/Jersey Shore. Suffolk is altogether more genteel, rustic lite, so Maine, or Wisconsin. Tottenham has that wannabe, chip-on-shoulder, faux edgy vibe with a perennially under-achieving sports team, so think Oakland, or Philadelphia…’

Teigen recently tweeted that her husband, the singer John Legend, actually took a flight from London to LA watch an episode of the series with her. 'I do not normally brag about John, as it is my schtick to make fun of him always, ' she tweeted. 'But he flew from London to LA instead of London to DC to have dinner with me and watch Love Island UK because I haven’t been feeling like myself lately. Just a few hours but it meant a lot.'
