It was an extraordinarily sad day in Febraury this year when all four members of indie rock band Viola Beach – Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin – and their manager Craig Tarry, died in a tragic car accident in Sweden.

A memorial concert was played for them in April, including contributions from The Kooks and The Coral, but this weekend another commemorative performance took place. What better tribute could their be to the band, than to perform one of their songs on centre stage at Glastonbury? Which is exactly what Coldplay did during their set at the music festival yesterday.

Speaking about the band, Chris revealed they 'reminded us of ourselves in our early days.' 'We're going to create Viola Beach's alternative future for them and let them play Glastonbury for a song,' he later said, before adding: 'This would have been [Viola Beach] in 20 years.'

To make this very special performance all the more special, however, Chris welcomed onto the stage some VIP backing singers – his children!

Overlooked by their mum, Gwyneth Paltrow (who filmed their performance for her Instagram account), Apple (12) and Moses (10) – with two of their cousins – sang along to Viola Beach track Boys That Sing. Dressed Glasto-appropriatly in hoodies and wellies, the quartet wowed the crowds as images of Viola Beach, and later them, were screened behind.

Might this mean the Martin Juniors have a career in music ahead of them? Obviously it's way too early to tell... though, we concede, not beyond the realms of possibility. Because, well, 'I played Glastonbury before my teens' has a certain ring to it – doesn't it?
