Musician Chris Brown has been arrested in Paris along with two other people on suspicion of rape, reports claim.
A police source told Reuters__ that a 24-year-old woman alleged that she was raped at the 29-year-old singer’s hotel suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel last week. According to the Press Association, one of the other people to have been arrested on suspicion of rape is Brown’s bodyguard.
While Brown is in custody in France’s capital, also arrested on suspicion of drug infractions, police are investigating the woman’s claims. A police report, reports France’s Closer magazine, shows that she met Brown at Le Crystal Club, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Champs Elysées, before returning with him, along with some other women and his friends to his hotel, near the Louvre Museum.
In the police statement, she claimed she was separated from the other women and ended up alone with Brown in his hotel room. It is here, she alleges, that he and two other men assaulted her.
The offence is alleged to have taken place on the night of the 15th January, while Brown was in town for Paris Fashion Week, where he sat in the front row for presentations from Yohji Yamamoto and Virgil Abloh's debut Louis Vuitton menswear campaign. Rape carries a sentence of 15 years in France.
Neither Brown nor his representatives have offered any comment on the arrest.
Brown's previous legal troubles started in 2009, when he wasconvicted in the US of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna. In 2016, he was arrested in Los Angeles after a woman claimed he pointed a gun at her, which he denied.
