Love Island’s Kaz Crossley Has Called Out Josh Denzel For Mocking Theo Campbell After He Was Blinded In A Freak Accident

Josh tweeted and deleted a meme that many think was directed at Theo.

Love Island’sTheo Campbell lost his sight in one eye earlier this week in a freak accident in Ibiza. Posting about the incident on Instagram, he revealed his left eye was ‘split in half’ after he was hit with a champagne cork, and after two eye surgeries has completely lost vision in it. Now, his girlfriend Kaz Crossley has called out her ex, fellow Love Island star Josh Denzel, for mocking Theo in the wake of the accident.

During an Instagram Q&A, Kaz was told by a fan that Josh posted the 'and I oop' meme on Twitter when news about Theo's injury broke, however he quickly deleted it following instant backlash.

'Sounds about right. Funny he decides to message A private sob story after he deleted it,' Kaz replied after being told about the tweet, 'Luckily Theo couldn't care less about joshs indirects as we have now lost count.'

Josh is yet to publicly apologise for the tweet, but Kaz revealed he messaged Theo privately to express his condolences after the accident.

Theo is currently still in hospital unable to fly home, as Kaz revealed the pressure of flying could impact his recovery. However, she also said he would be seeing a specialist upon landing in the UK.

Theo himself posted on Twitter that he doesn’t ‘want to believe [his] eye has gone forever’. ‘I currently have 7 stitches in my eye (gross) and the doctors say it’s unlikely I’ll see properly again,’ he said, ‘they done a good job saving it as they said I might lose my whole eye to begin with.’

‘Who would have thought a champagne cork would be the end of me...?’ he added on Instagram, ‘But I still have one eye left, looking at the bright side of things.’

According to OK! Magazine, the incident occurred when someone popped a champagne bottle and the cork flew into his eye while Theo was on holiday in Ibiza. ‘People were screaming when they realised what happened and saw the state of his eye,’ an eyewitness told the magazine, ‘One of the guys said it looked like his eye had exploded.’

His girlfriend, fellow Love Island star Kaz Crossley, immediately flew out to Ibiza to be with him, posting on Instagram: ‘It’s been a hard 24 hours, no one here speaks English and he was taken for hours at one point and I had no clue he was in surgery again.’

‘I hope this will make people aware of the dangers at these parties and to be more careful,’ she added.

While accidents like this are of course rare, the dangers of popping champagne with improper cork removal are serious. According to Medicine Net, the pressure inside a bottle can cause a cork to fly at 50 miles per hour.

‘When a Champagne cork flies, you really have no time to react and protect your delicate eyes," Dr. Monica Monica, an ophthalmologist for the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) said in a press release. ‘Uncontrolled Champagne corks can lead to painful eye injuries and devastating vision loss.’

The AAO has released guidelines on proper champagne cork removal, advising the following:

Chill Champagne and sparkling wine to 45 degrees or colder before opening. A warm bottle's cork is more likely to pop unexpectedly.

Do not shake the bottle. Shaking increases the cork's exit speed and increases the risk that someone will suffer a severe eye injury.

Point the bottle at a 45-degree angle away from yourself and people nearby, and hold down the cork with your palm while removing the wire hood on the bottle.

Put a towel over the entire top of the bottle and grasp the cork.
