He might have been constantly at her side for the last two years, holding her hand and fixing her potential malfunctions, but rest assured, Celine Dion is not dating her dance partner Pepe Munoz. In an interview on Lorraine yesterday, Celine cleared up rumours about their relationship stating that they're just 'best friends'.
Stating that she is single, she told Dan Wootton, that while their friendship has 'evolved', it isn't romantic. 'We bonded right away as friends, we had a good time. It evolved,' she said, 'But when people started to take pictures and it was like, 'Who's that guy? Rene?' Let's not mix everything.'
'We're friends, we're best friends,' Celine continued, 'Of course we hug and hold hands and go out, so people see that. I mean, he's a gentleman. He's giving me his hand to go out.'
Describing the rumours about her relationship with Pepe as what she thinks is a 'struggle' and 'very stressful' for him as he doesn't want to be in the middle of media speculation, she cleared the air by stating exactly what he does for her. As her sometime dance partner, sometime stylist, sometime producer, she said, 'he's part of my team and he's working so hard and I appreciate all of the talent that he's got.'
Asking the media not to mix everything just because they're seen holding hands, she stressed that she holds hands with many people. 'Yeah there's another man in my life but he's not the man in my life,' she said, finishing with a direct message to the press: 'When I say I am single, please leave me alone.' You can watch the eye roll that went with it below, it's honestly quite amazing.
Opening up more about her late husband, René Angélil, who passed away in 2016, she also spoke about what it means to turn 50, and whether she's noticed a change in her. 'I've never felt that great, I mean I've had wonderful moments in my whole life since i'm a child, growing in this family, having wonderful parents, getting married to the greatest man in this world,' she said.
'Knowing that now he is at peace and he is resting and is always within me,' she continued, ' I see him everyday through the yes of my children, he gave me so much strength through all of these years and so much luggage for me now to explore and to spread my wings, and the maturity that comes with age and time because after all its just a number. Its how you feel, how you feel is the most important thing and I feel like now I have a voice.'
So can you use it for some new music now please, Celine?!
