Love Island is going to look very different when it starts on Sunday, that’s for sure. Not only is it in a new location - South Africa - with a stunning new villa, but there will also be a new host. After former presenter Caroline Flack was charged for assault last month, it was announced that Laura Whitmore - the girlfriend of hilarious voiceover, Iain Stirling - would be taking the reins.

However, ‘the door is open’ for The Flack to return, according to showrunner Amanda Stavri, who has revealed producers are in 'constant contact' with the star as she holidays in Los Angeles during a break from her work schedule. The commissioning editor Amanda told The Mirror: 'We are continuing to talk to Caroline. We are in constant contact and the door is open.' Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the show said, ‘ITV has a long standing relationship with Caroline and we understand and accept her decision. We will remain in contact with her over the coming months about future series of Love Island.’

When she was announced as host, Laura praised Caroline{ =nofollow}, saying that she advised her to go for the job. 'Caroline is a brilliant host and also a friend,' she said in a statement. 'We've spoken a lot in the last few days since she stepped down. She has been very kind to me and strongly pushed me for this role. I've watched her host every series and know I have big boots to fill. I will try and do it justice.'

Laura and her boyfriend are also going to be hosting Aftersun, the segment after a Love Island episode where they chat to whoever has been sent home. It will be the first time that the programme has been presented by a couple.

Caroline appeared in court last month following a fight with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
