The Captain Marvel trailer has finally arrived after it was aired on December 4. Film buffs are going into a total meltdown over the highly anticipated movie, which will see Brie Larsontake on the first ever female lead superhero role as Carol Denvers, also known as superhero Captain Marvel.

Here are five things we learnt from the teaser clip…

Captain Marvel is a nod to the nineties with Blockbuster set

Set in the 90s

Remember the days before Netflix, when we relied on Blockbuster to watch movies on video? If not, Captain Marvel will remind you. The opening teaser clip sees Brie plummet through the roof of the rental service, which sadly closed down in 2013.

Origin story

Brie’s character, Carol, is a cosmic superhero Captain Marvel, also known as a Kree fighting against the 'baddies' known as Skrulls. Throughout the trailer viewers understand Carol had a ‘normal’ life before being a superhero, which saw her boast a career as a US Air Force fighter pilot. However, Carol cannot remember her past life fully, only in short flashbacks. She said: “I keep having these memories. I see flashes. I think I had a life here. But I can’t tell if it’s real … I think I had a life here.” Following a fatal accident Carol was given superpowers. Annette Bening’s character explains: “Your life began the day it nearly ended. We found you with no memory. We made you one of us so you could live longer, stronger, superior. You were reborn.”

Bad ass fight scenes

No action film, and certainly no Marvel movie, would be the same without witty remarks and some fast-paced action scenes, and Captain Marvel ticks all those boxes in its two-minute trailer. Within moments of the teaser clip Brie’s character Carol, Captain Marvel, whoops an old woman's – who is disguised as a nemesis Skrull - derriere on a bus.

Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Fury

Sensational cast

Brie Larson is joined by Annette Bening in the production, who is believed to portray the scientist who gave her character superpowers. Samuel L. Jackson also makes a return in the upcoming fantasy film as he reprises his role as General Nick Fury. While Jude Law also joins the star-studded line up as Walter Lawson aka Captain Mar-Vell.

Captain Marvel release date is slated for March 2019

The one question on everyone’s lips is ‘When is Captain Marvel out?’ The upcoming Marvel movie will be released in March 2019, so viewers will not have to wait long to see Brie in action.
