Tonight, huge names in British and International music will be celebrated in a televised awards ceremony, as the BRIT Awards - the biggest night in British music - return for another year.
The annual show has marked many memorable moments such as Prince’s comeback during the 2006 ceremony, Stormzy calling out Theresa May during his 2018 performance and the debut of Ginger Spice’s iconic union flag dress in 1997.
This year promises to be equally eventful as the event marks the 40th anniversary of the BRIT awards, but how do you get involved? Here's everything you need to know.
Who is going?
Last week. it was announced that Rod Stewart would be one of the selected artists performing at tonight’s BRIT awards.
The legendary rocker is joined by Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi, Mabel, Lizzo and many more who are both nominated and performing at the show.
Billie Eilish will also be singing her new single ‘No Time to Die’ at the awards ceremony. This will be her second performance at an awards show after she debuted the single at the Academy Awards earlier this month.
This year’s winner of the Rising star award Celeste will also be performing at the awards ceremony. Celeste received the prestigious award last year on Friday 6th December 2019. The award was previously called the ‘BRITs critic choice’ but has since been renamed. The BRITs state that the rename is “in line with the exciting changes for what will be our 40th BRIT Awards show in 2020.”
Who is nominated?
There are a variety of categories and a number of nominees across many genres of music.
Lewis Capaldi appears to be on a hot streak with nominations for best male solo artist, album of the year, best new artist and song of the year.
However, the Scottish singer has stiff competition from Dave who is also nominated for best new artist, album of the year and song of the year.
Mabel has been nominated for best song of the year with her single ‘Don’t call me up.’ She also boasts another nomination for best female solo artist.

Who is hosting this year?
The ceremony will be hosted by Jack Whitehall.
This was confirmed in November last year and the show will mark his third consecutive year hosting the BRIT awards.
Last year, the comedian didn’t hold back on his savage quips as he mocked many of the guests, including Shawn Mendes, Little Mix’s Jesy Nelson and Piers Morgan.
We can likely expect the same cutting jokes and perhaps something a little extra as he has tweeted about his excitement for the upcoming awards show and the celebration of “four decades of amazing moments.”
How can I watch the BRITs?
The show will be aired on ITV.
Where will the BRITs 2020 be held?
