Just weeks after condemning Hollywood’s scrutiny over women’s post-baby figure, Blake Lively has revealed her own personal body battles while filming her new flick The Shallows.
‘The struggle is that I am doing a movie in a bikini eight months after having a baby and there is a level of insecurity and vanity that comes with that,’ Blake Lively tells Australia’s Herald Sun. ‘You don’t want to be the person in the magazines that they are saying ‘ugh, look at her’ rather than ‘wow, look at her’.
But while the former Gossip Girl actress is candid about her bouts of low self-esteem in the past, she admits that we need to stop comparing our shape to others.
Adding: ‘There shouldn’t be that negative ‘ugh’ after someone has a baby. Your body is so beautiful. You couldn’t walk a Victoria’s Secret runway but it’s beautiful in a completely different and incredible way and I do wish I had the bravery to go out there and represent women as they actually look.’

While some Hollywood stars attribute losing their baby weight to ‘running around’ or ‘their busy life as a new mother’, Blake Lively has been much more honest about what it really involves.
In an interview with The Sun, the actress has revealed that she needed two trainers and a nutritionist to get in shape for her part in shark thriller, The Shallows.
Blake and her husband, Ryan Reynolds had their first child - a girl names James - in December 2014, and Lively started filming for the project in the October of the following year.
‘I focused on training and eating well. It took two different trainers and a nutritionist to help me get into that sort of shape because it’s not normal to look like that eight months after having a kid,’ Blake said.
This news comes after Blake’s comments slamming the ‘unfair’ expectations on women to lose weight after giving birth.

Blake Lively is on a roll right now. Since leaving Gossip Girl in 2012 she's gone on to star in successful blockbusters (including The Green Hornet with her husband Ryan Reynolds), become a mum to 2-year-old daughter James and is currently winning rave reviews for her terrifying turn as a surfer attacked by a shark in The Shallows.
But her A-list status has resulted in increased attention and fascination with her ‘post-baby body’. 'What diet is she on?!'...'How did she get so ripped so quickly after giving birth?' commenters wrote.
And Blake - who is expecting baby number two with Ryan - is not happy about it.
In a recent TV interview with Sunrise in Australia whilst promoting The Shallows, Blake took issue with the ‘unfair’ scrutiny put upon women.
After the 28-year-old star revealed her intense physical tests and ‘a lot of endurance training’ while making the movie the interviewer said that when people ask her: ‘How did she get her post-baby figure? You say “well a movie like this.”’
‘It’s so unfair,’ Blake responded. ‘It’s so celebrated.’
‘I think a woman’s body after having a baby is pretty amazing,’ she added. ‘You don’t have to have be Victoria’s Secret-ready right away. You’ve just done this incredible miracle that life has to offer. You gave birth to a human being. I would really like to see that celebrated.’
And she’s not the only Hollywood actress fed up with the ever-constant pressure in society for women to lose weight post-baby. Anne Hathaway recently posted an empowering message to young mothers on her Instagram.
‘There is no shame in finally breaking down and making your own jean shorts because last summer’s are just too dang short for this summer’s thighs,’ the mother of one shared with her 5 million followers. ‘Bodies change.Bodies grow. Bodies shrink. It’s all love (don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.)’
