As 2017 draws to close and we spend the week eating, drinking and generally being merry, it seems an appropriate time to reflect on the year that was.
In the land of celebrities, 2017 will be forever remembered as the year that the truth about sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood finally came to light. The revelations about Harvey Weinstein and the subsequent #MeToo movement has undoubtedly, and quite rightly, overshadowed all other entertainment news . Since The New York Times broke the story about Weinstein’s vast history of sexual abuse, numerous women (and some men) have come out and shared their stories about Weinstein and other abusers, both in and out of the spotlight.
Consequently, some light relief has been needed, and luckily some of our favourite celebrities haven't let us down. Heartwarming moments of 2017 include two new sets of twins (Beyoncé and Amal we’re looking at you), some major royal announcements (an engagement and another royal baby), and even a follow-up to one of our all-time favourite films, Love Actually.
Scroll down to see some of the most talked-about moments of the year…

La La Land accidentally announced as Best Picture
In February the Oscars was overshadowed but what can only be described as one of the most awkward moments in awards show history. The disastrous Fyre festival
Tipped as the new Coachella and endorsed by the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid and Alessandra Ambrosio, Fyre festival ended up being a spectacular disaster. With festival goers paying between $1,500 and $12,000 for tickets, they arrived to discover a lack of food, half-built tents described as 'luxury villas' and a lack of electricity. Described by some as the millennial equivalent to 'Lord of the Flies', it's safe to stay we'll be sticking to Coachella next year.
