As 2017 draws to close and we spend the week eating, drinking and generally being merry, it seems an appropriate time to reflect on the year that was.
In the land of celebrities, 2017 will be forever remembered as the year that the truth about sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood finally came to light. The revelations about Harvey Weinstein and the subsequent #MeToo movement has undoubtedly, and quite rightly, overshadowed all other entertainment news . Since The New York Times broke the story about Weinstein’s vast history of sexual abuse, numerous women (and some men) have come out and shared their stories about Weinstein and other abusers, both in and out of the spotlight.
Consequently, some light relief has been needed, and luckily some of our favourite celebrities haven't let us down. Heartwarming moments of 2017 include two new sets of twins (Beyoncé and Amal we’re looking at you), some major royal announcements (an engagement and another royal baby), and even a follow-up to one of our all-time favourite films, Love Actually.

Beyoncé broke the Internet with her pregnancy announcement
In February Beyoncé broke Instagram records when she shared the news she was expecting twins. The extravagantly staged shoot saw her posing against a floral backdrop and clutching her baby bump in an Agent Provocateur underwear set and green veil. In July she took to the social media platform once again to share the first photo of Rumi and Sir with the world.
Amal Clooney gave birth to twins
Beyonce wasn't the only one to have twins this year. [In June George and Amal Clooney welcomed Ella and Alexander into their lives](https://graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/amal-clooney-pregnant-twins/t-twins/). The fiercely private couple have yet to share pictures of their newborns.
Pippa Middleton married James Matthews
The biggest wedding of the year took place at the end of May when Pippa Middleton married James Matthews in an intimate ceremony at St Mark's church in Berkshire. While Pippa looked stunning in a Giles Deacon dress, it was the adorable Prince George and his sister Princess Charlotte who stole the show.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement
After months of speculation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed they were engaged at the end of November. After appearing in Kensington Gardens for a photocall, the pair gave an interview to the BBC's Mishal Husain in which Meghan revealed how Harry proposed over roast chicken at their cottage in Kensington Palace. The couple will marry on May 19th 2018.
Kate Middleton announced she was pregnant with baby number three
In September Kensington Palace confirmed that Kate Middleton was pregnant with her third child with husband Prince William. Kate has remained largely out of the public eye since announcing the news because she is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum, an extreme type of morning sickness.
La La Land accidentally announced as Best Picture
In February the Oscars was overshadowed but what can only be described as one of the most awkward moments in awards show history. No one will ever forget when the cast of crew of La La Land had to leave the stage after show organisers notified Warren Beatty that he'd read out the wrong winner for Best Picture - it wasn't La La Land that had won but Moonlight.
Taylor Swift made her comeback
After deleting the entire contents of her Instagram account and some days of teasing, Taylor Swift dropped the first song from her new album, Look What You Made Me Do. The first single from her new album, Reputation, the accompanying video showed Taylor reinventing herself.
Chris Pratt and Anna Faris announced they were separating
We lost our faith in love (and shed a few tears) when Chris Pratt and Anna Faris released a statement that they would be separating after eight years of marriage. Other notable break ups of 2017 included Fergie and Josh Duhamel filing for divorce after eight years of marriage, and Selena Gomez and The Weeknd calling it quits following a ten months romance.
Jelena reformed
Speaking of Selena Gomez, shortly after the singer ended things with The Weeknd she got back together with ex Justin Bieber. The pair who have been on-again-off-again since 2010 have reportedly been inseparable since reconciling their romance in November of this year.
The many Kardashian pregnancies

To recap, it's been confirmed that Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye are expecting baby number three via surrogate, Kylie is supposedly pregnant with her first child with boyfriend Travis Scott, and Khloe is also expecting her first child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson.

The disastrous Fyre festival
Tipped as the new Coachella and endorsed by the likes of Emily Ratajkowski, Bella Hadid and Alessandra Ambrosio, Fyre festival ended up being a spectacular disaster. With festival goers paying between $1,500 and $12,000 for tickets, they arrived to discover a lack of food, half-built tents described as 'luxury villas' and a lack of electricity. Described by some as the millennial equivalent to 'Lord of the Flies', it's safe to stay we'll be sticking to Coachella next year.
Wonder Woman smashed box office records
The critically acclaimed blockbuster became the highest-grossing superhero origin film of all time. A great moment for women in Hollywood, the film had women both in the lead role (Gal Gadot) and directing (Patty Jenkins).
The Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies make Emmy history
It has been a great year in TV for women, most notably at the Emmys. The Handmaid's Tale director Reed Morano broke a 22-year streak of men winning the award, and Big Little Lies won eight Emmys.
