Why Barbara Palvin Is One To Watch

Barbara Palvin first garnered our attention at the 73rd Venice Film Festival, in a ruffled floral dress by Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini.

With cameras snapping her every move and the media hailing her a style muse, Barbara undoubtedly proved that she’s making waves within the industry.

And at just 22-years-old, she has already made a name for herself within the modelling sphere, having walked for Victoria’s Secret at the mere age of 19 before recently becoming the face of Amazon Fashion.

With over four million followers on Instagram and rumours she’s dating Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, the rising star is sure to become a name to remember.

The beginnings of Barbara's modelling career

Barbara was born on October 8 1993 in Budapest, Hungary. She was discovered by a modelling agency at the mere age of 13 whilst walking alongside her mother on the streets of Budapest. Her first modelling gig came shortly afterwards as she was snapped on the cover of Spur magazine in 2006.

Following her breakthrough in the Japanese market, Barbara moved to Asia where she founded the beginnings of her career. Three years later, the Hungarian-born model was signed by IMG Models, the same agency which manages Gigi Hadid. Barbara consequently moved back to Europe to seek new modelling opportunities.

Her foray into catwalk

Barbara is best recognised donning the iconic wings made famous by lingerie brand Victoria's Secret. Yet she soon garnered the attention of big names within the fashion industry.

The Hungarian model made her catwalk debut in 2010 as a Prada exclusive in the autumn/winter show and the walk sparked the catalyst for her flourishing career.

By March, Barbara had walked for Nina Ricci, Giles, Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton in Paris. A stellar start to her catwalk CV. These were of course before she walked a multitude of the spring/summer shows under big names including Christopher Kane, Vivienne Westwood, Loewe, and Chanel in both London and Paris.

Barbara’s venture into the beauty sphere

It was only a matter of time until the doe-eyed model would land herself a beauty contract or two. In 2011, Barbara became the face of Calvin Klein’s Forbidden Euphoria fragrance before becoming an ambassador for L’Oreal Paris the following year, at the age of just 18.

Who is Barbara dating?

Barbara was dating her high school sweetheart Kristof Somfa from 2010 until 2013. The model has sinced been linked to singer Justin Beiber and One Direction's Niall Horan.

Barbara was rumoured to be with Justin after meeting him following a Victoria's Secret show. The pair were spotted on Broadway the following evening as they watched The Lion King.

Barbara is now reportedly dating Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton after they have been repeatedly spotted together. Barbara and Lewis made their first public appearance during the Formula One Grand Prix of Hungary on July 24, 2016.
