Ashley Roberts has opened up about the intense schedule she had while performing as part of the popstar group ‘The Pussycat Dolls.’ She revealed that she pushed herself so much that it led to her body ultimately ‘shutting down.’

The singer and dancer who now works as a radio host on Heart Radio, said touring and the high intensity of each performance had a huge impact on her physical health - to the point where doctors thought she was suffering from a brain aneurism.

She appeared on Jamie Laing’s Private Parts podcast and spoke about the downside to her superstar status. She said, ‘The thing was, being in a girl band, we make people a lot of money so the schedule was outrageous. I’m not going to lie, by the end I was breaking down. I was in the hospital.'

She stated that doctors were concerned that her health was deteriorating 'They thought I was having a brain aneurysm. I think it was just from going, going, going and my body was just shutting down really.' Ashley revealed that her biggest health scare happened while she was on tour in London, ' I remember being in the hospital, I was actually here in London, and I was like, "I’ve got to go to Germany, I’ve got to get on a plane now. I’ve got a show to do."' The singer also suffered with viral arthritis while in hospital, with doctors stating that she needed to slow down and rest.

Ashley also spoke about the mental toll leaving the group the first time had on her, and crisis she had with her identity. She said she felt ‘lost’ and that she had to work out who she was again. She explained: 'We were on the road for eight years pretty much solid, and then spat out the other end and I was like, ‘Who am I without this identity in the group?’ This led to taking different acting classes to try to get back her passion for the arts and creativity. 'I just felt burnt out,' she added.

The Pussycat Dolls officially reunitedin 2019 and released hit pop song ‘React’. The group were all set to embark on a world tour before it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Following this, lead singer Nicole Scherzinger officially cancelled the tour earlier this month amid claims she and group founder Robin Antin had fallen out.
