When Louis Walsh let slip that The Pussycat Dolls were reuniting, he wasn’t joking. During Monday’s episode of Lorraine, the X Factor judge gave the ‘exclusive’ that they would be performing at this weekend’s X Factor: Celebrity final. Now the group themselves - who split in 2010, almost ten years ago! - have confirmed that they are back. And they’re going on tour, bitches.

‘It's been a few years in the making,’ Kimberly Wyatttold the BBC. ‘But I think ultimately there's some unfinished business with the Pussycat Dolls.’

The group's star, and main vocalist, has always undoubtedly been Nicole Scherzinger, who will be returning with Kimberly, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts and Jessica Sutta. Melody Thornton (who you might remember was on this year’s Dancing On Ice) will not be part of the reunion though, after reports that she wanted more vocals.

But the group have insisted the ‘door is always open’ for Melody, as Ashley told the BBC, ‘Mel's got a lot of projects going on in life. She was included in all of this, she's our sister, the door is always open, but it just wasn't the right timing for her right now. We wish her well.’

In another interview with The Sun, Nicole candidly revealed that she struggled with bulimia, which she believes built tensions within the group as she didn't want to tell anyone. ‘I hid it from the world,’ she said. ‘I was extremely ashamed. When you’re battling your own demons and insecurities, it’s not something you want to share with other people.’

Kimberley added that they felt pressure from their record label to look like ‘anorexic aliens’ - but Nicole insists that it will be different this time, thanks in part to more body positive popstars. ‘I wanted to say this is a completely different time,’ the lead added. ‘One of the pop stars I look up to is Lizzo. We are about equality, inclusivity and most importantly acceptance.’

Tickets for the Pussycat Dolls’ 2020 tour go on sale from 10am on Sunday here.
