Ariana Grande wowed at the Oscars last night. The 31-year-old looked stunning in Schiaparelli SS25 Couture, styled by Mimi Cuttrell. Walking the red carpet without her boyfriend, Wicked co-star Ethan Slater, the couple arrived separately.
Grande is up for best supporting actress for her role as Glinda in Wicked and is performing a medley of hits at tonight’s ceremony alongside BFF and co-star Cynthia Erivo.
Despite Grande’s potential Oscar win, which would be her first major award of the season, Google Trends shows a decidedly less interesting public reaction to the stars arrival on the red carpet. In fact, as soon as she appeared, searches for ‘Why is Ariana Grande so slim’, ‘Ariana Grande skinny’ and ‘Is Ariana Grande sick’ all became major breakouts.

The commentary around Ariana Grande’s weight loss recently became so invasive that she was forced to publicly comment on it on social media. In December, she posted a video on TikTok saying, ‘I don’t do this often, I don’t like it and I’m not good at it, but I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and paid such close attention to.’
‘The body that you've been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,’ she explained. ‘I was on a lot of antidepressants, and drinking on them, and eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider my healthy, but that, in fact, wasn't my healthy.’
She went on to say that we, as a society, should work towards not publicly discussing peoples bodies. ‘I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on peoples bodies,’ she said. ‘No matter what, if you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is. Healthy or unhealthy, big or small, sexy not sexy, we just shouldn’t – we should really work towards not doing that as much. There are ways to compliment something or ignore something that you see that you don’t like.’
