She’s the woman who’s been spotted on the arm of two of Hollywood’s most famous and beautiful actresses, Cara Delevingne and Kristen Stewart, but who exactly is St Vincent, real name Annie Clark?
The 34-year-old Oklahoma-native is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (read: over-achiever), who has released four studio albums throughout her ten-year career, blending influences as diverse as electropop, soft rock and jazz. Her most recent album, the eponymous St Vincent, won her the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album in 2014, making her the first woman in 20 years to win in that category. The same year she was chosen to perform with the remaining members of Nirvana when they were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.

Where does Annie Clark’s stage name, St Vincent come from?
As with almost all interesting musician names, Annie’s comes from a song lyric. The song in question is by Nick Cave, in which he sings about the hospital that Welsh poet Dylan Thomas died in. She’s previously said she liked the idea of being named after “the place poetry came to die”.

Annie and Cara were an item for 18 months, splitting in September. The genetically-blessed couple first met in December 2014, when the model was spotted hanging out on St Vincent’s US tour, with the rumour mill going into overdrive after they were seen kissing at the Brit Awards shortly after. The singer, who kept a low profile prior to the relationship, found herself thrust into the public eye, attending red carpet events, including a Burberry fashion show with her girlfriend. The pair remained pretty tight-lipped about the relationship, with a few cameos on each other’s social media accounts, before Cara publicly spoke about her love for Annie in the July 2016 issue of US Vogue: “I think that being in love with my girlfriend is a big part of why I’m feeling so happy with who I am these days.
