When alt rom-com Trainwreck was released last summer, audible celebratory cheers were felt at the end of the screening. A film about a New York writer who loves her job, her own bed and - gasp! - sex? Not your average female hero by Hollywood's standards. Amy Schumer's hit was lauded a triumph in a 'postfeminist' landscape.

As any true Schumer fan will know, no topic is off-limits in her comedy skits - whether its discussions on Donald Trump (she’s supported Hillary Clinton from the beginning), or her lifelong struggle with her body image.

And the US comedian has now revealed her firm response to those who do not describe themselves as a feminist in a new televised interview.

‘I think anyone who is not a feminist is an insane person’ she told BBC Newsnight{ =nofollow}. ‘I think they don't know what feminism means.’

Amy may want to have words with Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Kardashian who both publicly reject the title of ‘feminist’.

‘I don't think that I am a feminist. I don't like labels,’ the KUWTK star revealed last year.

In an essay on Kim’s website last month titled: ‘Why I Don’t Call Myself A Feminist’, she wrote:

‘Why do we have to put labels on things?’ asks Kim. ‘You're Republican, you're Democrat, you're bisexual, you're plus-size, you're poor, you're a criminal, you're a mother, you're a feminist.’

‘I feel that being grouped or labeled can create separation between people who do (or don't) fall into certain categories, when they may actually share many of the same beliefs and goals. It's simply a personal choice that I don't like the idea of being labelled.’
