There’s a reason why ITV’s Love Island attracts 4.3million viewers per night. You watch it, your boyfriend moans about it but watches it when you’re not around, your brother watches it and even your mum records it to binge-watch on the weekend. It appeals to everyone, young and old and is, quite frankly, a welcome escape from everyday life.
And it turns out that even the super A-list tune in too, as Hollywood star Amy Schumer has announced her love for the popular show, and has pledged her allegiance to fiery Islander Maura Higgins.
The I Feel Pretty actress and comedian, has thrown her support behind the show and will apear in a video message on spin-off show Aftersun, hosted by Caroline Flack, on Sunday.
"I'm loving this season of Love Island," she says in the video.
"I want to give a shout out to Maura. She's just like my homie, I feel very connected to her."
This isn’t the first time Love Island has attracted Hollywood royalty. Last year, fans went wild when Margot Robbie admitted that she was a huge fan and watches ‘drinking wine and eating crisps’.
When former Islander Dr Alex (remember him? Of course you do) admitted that Megan Barton Hanson was a dead ringer for the actress, telling the lads, "mate she's Margot Robbie. She's Margot Robbie isn't she. She's one of the hottest girls on the planet", Margot chimed in to say that she couldn’t really see the resemblance but she’s 100 per cent down for it.
She told Metro: "The other night we were watching and I think it was Alex [George] who said that, and we all lost it! We were like, 'Oh my God, they know who I am on Love Island!'
"I personally don't see the resemblance. We'd just finished drinking beer and eating crisps and saying, 'We're so disgusting we could never be on Love Island we're such fatties, they would never let us on'.
"They all have some amazing bodies and they are so gorgeous and are always so done up and looking incredible, and then they said [I look like her] and we were like, 'Oh my God!'"
We wonder who else tunes in? Meghan Markle and Prince Harry perhaps?
