Amy Schumer gave birth to her and Chris Fischer's son, Gene Attell Fischer, last week, and in a very honest post she has opened up about the realities of her pregnancy, before she thanked her loved ones and medical staff for their help.
Praising women and the female body on Instagram, which saw her share a picture of her cradling her newborn, she wrote: 'Women are the st. Men are cool and whatever but women are f*ing warriors and capable of anything.'
The 'I Feel Pretty' actress continued to thank her doula - her birthing partner - Domino Kirke for being by her side all the way, although she joked she didn't know exactly what a doula did.
She continued: 'I was lucky enough to get to have a doula. Her name @domino_kirke @carriagehousebirth,”
'What do doulas do? I don’t totally know But what she did was make me and Chris feel totally secure and supported throughout my pregnancy and the birth process. I really recommend getting one if you can.
'Doctor Brill and all the nurses and pediatricians at Lenox Hill and all the other hospitals i spent time in this year, thank you for everything.'
But the 37-year-old's pregnancy was not entirely smooth sailing as she battled with hyperemesis gravidarum, which caused her to 'throw up violently'.
She added: 'I did Pilates with strong women and went for walks. I threw up violently and felt sick mostly every day of my pregnancy. Hyperemesis is real and it’s awful. But f**k, what they say is true. The second you give birth it’s gone.'
Amy continued her lengthy post with a huge thank you to all of her nearest and dearest. She wrote: 'All my friends. Friends I’ve had for 30 years or people who encouraged me to “keep going” or telling me “it will be worth it”. Thank you. Every woman I encountered is so willing to help and advise you and I felt all their strength. And you were right. Thank you ladies from my family. Chris, Gene and of course Tatiana.'
Amy concluded her post in the most honest way, as she got real about the aftermath of pregnancy, with the hashtags '#titsleaking #wearingadiaper.'
And THAT is why we love her.
