It’s not been a great week for celebrity couples to say the least. First the sad news that Mark Ronson and his French actress-model wife, Joséphine de La Baume are to divorce. And it’s now been announced another duo are no longer: Amy Schumer and her furniture designer beau Ben Hanisch have called it quits after a year and a half dating.
‘Amy and Ben have ended their relationship after thoughtful consideration and remain friends,’ a representative for Schumer tells PEOPLE.
The pair met on a dating app in 2015, and went public with their relationship on Instagram in January 2016 after visiting the White House together.
‘He was dancing with his grandmother in his profile picture at what looked like a wedding. His song was 'LSD' by ASAP Rocky, my favorite song on that album,’ Amy recalled in her book The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo. ‘He wasn't an actor or photographer by trade like all the other guys -- and he didn't live in L.A. or New York. He was a Chicago guy. We sent each other very simple hellos and short, funny messages.’
Only last November did Hanisch write a gushing anniversary post about the comedienne. ‘A year ago I met the love of my life,’ he captioned the black and white image of the pair together. We both weren't looking for a relationship at the time, but something felt right from the very first night we met. We ended up spending 6 days in a row together. This pic was taken in New Orleans and was the night I knew I wanted to spend my life with her.’
In an interview with Howard Stern earlier this month, when asked if she was thinking about marriage, responded: ‘I love the idea of committing to someone and making that choice and I want to have a family but right now, we are not in talks.’
