As Alison Hammond Joins Bake Off, Take A Look Back At Her Greatest TV Moments

THE Alison Hammond, 48, has been announced as the new co-host on The Great British Bake Off. She's replacing Matt Lucas, who stepped down in December, on the next series and will join Noel Fielding in the famous tent – it's a match baked in heaven.

She took to Twitter to confirm the news: 'It’s Official!! It’s happening The Great British Bake off ! let’s have it - The cake that is'.

So let's take a look at some of her own TV showstoppers.

Alison has gone from being second-evicted on Big Brother in 2002 to co-hosting the 2023 BAFTAs with Richard. E Grant. It's a TV career trajectory like no other, and she's cemented her status as a national treasure along the way. If she wasn't there to run away from the police during a segment on This Morning, or ask Helen Mirren what afterparty she's going to in the BAFTAs green room, then who would be?

Why hellooooo Jill! Of course Alison is was present for this moment of TV gold. Ainsley Harriet and Alison surprised a lady named Jill on Mother's Day. She was sat alongside Alison looking completely startled when Ainsley spectacularly entered the room holding a frying pan and belting out the words: "Why helloooo Jiiiiiiill." Only on This Morning!

If anyone's up for an adventure in the name of TV, it's Alison. In 2018, she went for a ride on the new Toy Story Land Slinky Dog Coaster and thank god she brought us a long with her. The camera angle, her scream and the fact it was on live TV – another perfect Alison moment in the bank.

Our very own weather girl, Alison delivered the weather news from a floating map of the UK on the Albert Dock in Liverpool. She jumped from the mainland over to Northern Ireland and knocked one of the topless sailors straight into the water! She then had to swiftly cover him up in her sparkly cape to protect his see-through, wet white trousers on morning television. As Holly Willoughby put it, 'she's on there for about 30 seconds and someone's in the water. How eventful are Alison's items? Always!'

She's interviewed her fair share of celebs, and tried her luck with more than one. But Alison has always been particularly taken by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. He spoofed a proposal in 2017 and the video has over 1.5 million views on YouTube. And then came the famous wedding! Alison now refers to The Rock as her other half, as she should!

Humble beginnings. Shame on whoever watched and voted during series three of Big Brother, because you slept on a TV icon. However, despite not lasting long, Alison found her way back onto our screens shortly after her eviction and she's remained there ever since.

Always one for a bit of drama, when Alison was doing an item by the tower of Pisa, she was chased off by the Italian police for filming without a permit – all while on air. The best part was that she kept coming back for more and it became a wild goose chase between her, the crew, and this unhappy looking officer in the photo.

If there's any sound that's bound to make your day better, it's Alison Hammond's cackle. In this episode of This Morning, comedian Barry Humphries mistook Dermot O’Leary for Phillip Schofield and congratulated him on coming out and it was perfect. The hosting duo tried to keep it together but it didn't last long.

A show we could watch all on its own – Cooking with Alison. Every time Alison steps into the kitchen on This Morning, something goes wrong in the best way. Here she is making blinis in her kitchen when she knocks the entire pan on the floor and chases after them. Woops!
