But Easy On Me, and the album, aren't just about her ex-husband Simon Konecki, who she left in 2019. She told US Voguethat her new music is for her nine-year-old son, Angelo, to explain 'when he's in his 20s or 30s, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness'. She added: 'It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that's a real wound for me that I don't know if I'll ever be able to heal.'
While she's undoubtedly singing to Simon, the lyrics to the song include reference to her son, when she sings about how hard she tried to keep her family together. 'You can't deny how hard I've tried,' she sings. 'I changеd who I was to put you both first, but now I give up.' The bridge includes the lyrics: 'I had good intentions, and the highest hopes, but I know right now, it probably doesn't even show.'
Who is Adele's ex-husband, Simon Konecki?
Simon, 47, is the CEO of charity Drop4Drop (which aims to provide clean water in poorer countries). (And he went to Eton with the likes of Tom Parker-Bowles and Bear Grylls.)
Simon and Adele are believed to have met in 2011. But the couple announced their split in 2019, following a year of marriage. (Adele confirmed the album is called 30, because she married - and left - Simon at that age.) The singer then filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, five months after they confirmed their break-up. The pair currently share custody of their son.
