As the founder of tanning brand Bare by Vogue Williams and owner of a perennial golden-glow, it's safe to say Vogue Williams knows a thing or three about nailing a natural looking fake tan. Having used fake tan religiously since she was 16 at school, Vogue loves the instant boost it gives and has her tanning tips and tricks down to a T.
'A good fake tan just makes me feel better about myself. It gives a healthy-looking glow, so I do it at least once a week. At the moment my tanning day is Saturday.' According to Vogue, her husband Spencer Matthews is a fan of a bottle of the faux stuff too. His own top fake tanning advice? 'Get your wife to do it'. Well why not when said wife is an all-round fake tan expert? Read on for a few of Vogue's top tips for fake tanning at home, as well as a run down of the beauty favourites that have been seeing her through lockdown.
Always Exfoliate Beforehand
'I always think that if you have time, it's best to exfoliate in the shower beforehand.' We're in agreement Vogue. The more dead skin cells in residence, the patchier your tan will be. Exfoliating before you tan evens out your application, and ensures your fake tan results stay put for longer. Vogue also likes to exfoliate a few days after applying her fake tan to keep the look even.
Dry Exfoliating Is Super Convenient Too
'I like things to be quick so an exfoliating mitt is great to use to speed things up'. The Bare by Vogue Williams Luxury Exfoliating Mitt, £7.20, is the tool to use. Gently buff it over limbs before you get going if you don't have time for a full in-shower exfoliation, and continue on with your routine. 'I tend to start exfoliating after about two days of wearing self tan. I use it in the shower too.'

Master Fake Tanning Your Hands
'The best tip for getting perfectly fake tanned hands is lots of moisturiser. Make sure to moisturise your hands before your start, liberally. Use the what's left on your tanning mitt from tanning your arms, and use a foundation brush to blend it all in.' It makes perfect sense - you need precision when dealing with your hands, and avoiding patches around your knuckles and wrists.
The Beauty Favourites That Have Been Seeing Vogue Through Lockdown
'Medik8 C-Tetra Eye Serum, £19, is meant to get rid of dark circles under your eyes. I have really dark dark circles and I have to say it has lightened them. It also helps with those little crows' feet at the side of your eyes. Lash wise I'm obsessed with RevitaLash Advanced, £89. I never thought it would work. I've been using that since lockdown started and I'm so impressed, I have lashes for the first time in my life. I normally wear false lashes at events quite regularly so thought that this was the perfect time to try a serum out. It takes about 6 weeks but it really works.'
'Now, I have to be transparent, because I do work with this brand, but I love Spotlight's Teeth Whitening Pen, £11.99. You just draw it on your teeth and it makes them white! Also, Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II, £58, that's just incredible isn't it? It's a perfect easy one-step all-rounder serum.'
'When it comes to oils for your tummy, I get asked a lot about this when I'm pregnant. I love the Mama Mio The Tummy Rub Oil, £27, and the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil, £29.50, I love the smell. With stretch marks though, I think a lot of it has to do with genetics. Hair wise, Larry King's A Social Life For Your Hair, £23. Oh and I can't forget Chanel's Les Beiges Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream, £42, mine's nearly done but it's lasted me over year and I refuse to get rid of it.'
