In the murky world of YouTube and TikTok skincare advice, Hyram is a voice of dermatological reason. He holds no qualifications in dermatology, but forensically examines peer-reviewed medical journals and new research to gather his encyclopaedic knowledge. His 4.59m YouTube subscribers (6.5m TikTok followers) come to Hyram for how he makes skincare accessible (and fun).

He lifts the lid on product formulas, and the latest ingredients to know (his catchphrase? "Ingredients don't lie, b*tch.") It's the content creators like Hyram that do brands like The Ordinary such favours. Without him, how else would Gen Z know all about niacinamide and the molecular weights of hyaluronic acid?

Hyram's impact is real: when he posts, people listen. In one of his latest reviews on the best cleansers of 2021, Hyram gives high praise to a certain cleansing balm (and it's only £18).

Skip to 12:20, and you'll see that it's the Bad Habit Omzz Acai Nightly Cleansing Balm that makes Hyram's cut. His verdict?

"I initially bought this because I liked the ingredients, and Emma Chamberlain is the creative director behind this brand - I wanted to support her. I've used this many times, and it's a great cleansing balm experience. The thing with cleansing balms is that they do tend to be a little more expensive, because they are a little bit more of a luxury product. This one is really well priced. Most importantly, it properly removes sunscreen and make-up, as well as emulsifying when you add water. If you're a first time cleansing balm user, I'd definitely recommend trying this one."

And naturally, Hyram is spot on. This solid balm cleanser melts to an oil when you warm it up with your fingers, melting make-up with real ease. It has a great 'slip' (the product moves around the face well), meaning it's also good for facial massage, too.
