It takes time for me to really fall for a skincare product. Make-up often has me at hello - I can be head over heels for a new lipstick shade on application, or converted to the new 'it' mascara in a matter of swipes. When it comes to skincare, it's usually weeks, if not months before I decide if the product in question really is all that. There's an exception to this rule though -Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream, £67. I love this moisturiser instantly.
I first used Tatcha's cult moisturiser during my wedding week, in a concerted attempt to level-up my skincare game and keep my complexion in check throughout each of my six events – and it was love at first swipe. I'm not the only one who's smitten with this cream, either. From Nicola Coughlan to Molly-Mae Hague and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (who also loves the Tatcha lip mask), Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream has gradually accrued a loyal A-list fanbase, and it's just as popular on TikTok, with online beauty obsessives routinely lauding its glow-giving credentials.
The buzz around Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream makes even more sense when you understand where it's from. Founded by Vicky Tsai in 2009, the brand was born of Tsai's own skin journey and experience with acute dermatitis. After a trip to Kyoto where she studied Japanese natural ingredients and rituals, Tsai brought together a team of experts and devised Tatcha. Cut to today and Tatcha is famed for its kind-to-skin products (the Tatcha product range is extensive), each developed at the Tatcha Institute in Tokyo where innovation and tradition collide to create formulas infused with Japanese botanicals and science-backed clinical ingredients. The result is functional, effective and sensorial skincare that delivers visible results and luxes up your every day routine.

The Dewy Skin Cream is decadent and sumptuous, it feels thick and silky and melts into skin when I apply it. I thought, because of its thickness, that it might feel too rich, or leave behind a greasy residue, but it absorbs pretty quickly and leaves my skin feeling plumped and juicy. I find that it glazes over my acne-prone, combination skin type without causing irritation and that's testament to its clever formula. Loaded with twice-fermented, antioxidant-rich Japanese purple rice, botanical extracts including ginseng and wild thyme, as well as a blend of Okinawa algae and hyaluronic acid, the moisturiser works to protect my skin from stress and free radicals (the nasties in things like pollution that can dull skin with regular exposure) while helping my skin to retain moisture throughout the day.
I have been using Tatcha's The Dewy Skin Cream for over a year now and my skin is reaping the benefits. While it does a brilliant job of perfecting the look of my bare skin, there's a lot to be said for how well it performs under make-up, too. It's a must for me ahead of special occasions that require a full-glam moment, it's an excellent primer. It's no wonder one jar of the stuff sells every 60 seconds.

Loaded with twice-fermented, antioxidant-rich Japanese purple rice, botanical extracts including ginseng and wild thyme, as well as a blend of Okinawa algae and hyaluronic acid, the moisturiser works hard to fortify the skin longterm while immediately softening, comforting and replenishing. It works a treat under make-up, too.
What the brand says: 'A rich, moisturising cream with plumping hydration and antioxidant-packed Japanese purple rice for a dewy, healthy glow. Ideal for dry skin. Can be used on combination skin for those who prefer a moisturiser with a richer texture.'
What we know: It's a new-gen cult classic loved by the A-list likes of Nicola Coughlan and Meghan Sussex (it's a staple in the kit of her long-term friend and make-up artist Daniel Martin) and the brainchild of Vicky Tsai, who was inspired by her own skin journey and the healing power of ancient Japanese skin rituals. The Dewy Skin Cream's M.O is to boost your skin's moisture reserves and improve your skin's ability to retain moisture with longterm application. You get instant results too: expect plump, juicy looking skin on application.
Beauty writer Sameeha Shaikh says: 'I thought it might be too thick and rich for me but it melts into skin and works as a great primer under make-up too. It's one of the first skincare products to instantly win me over (usually it takes weeks) and I have been using it regularly for over a year.'
