It’s 2019 and we still don’t have Sephora in the UK, but at least our favourite stateside brands are finally available this side of the pond. Today, it’s been announced that like Kate Somerville and Drunk Elephant, cult American cosmetics label Milk Makeup will be launching in the UK at the end of the month.
Just like Glossier, Milk Makeup has an exceedingly compelling aesthetic. Grabbable roll-on bronzers and eyeliners that look like highlighters are so Instagram friendly it’s surprising to know the brand preexists the social platform. It was founded at the end of the nineties by the people behind Milk Studios (a creative production studio in LA and NY, which bi-annually gives over its offices to host New York Fashion Week).
Here’s where it’s vastly different from Glossier. Where Emily Weiss’ brand likes the no-makeup look, Milk’s fashion DNA can be felt in its out-there colours and high-concept products. Though rave-ready lipstick pigments and glittering eyeshadows are available the best sellers are all about the skin. The Blur Stick (a pore minimizer roller, £30.50), the Cooling Water under-eye caffeine-infused de-puffer (£20.50) and Matcher Toner (£22) remain their best sellers.
Mark 26th Jan in your calendars because for 48 hours Milk Makeup will be hosting a pop-up store in Covent Garden. Its promised to be an immersive experience with a KUSH greenhouse (inspired by their beloved cannabis oil-infused mascar, £20.50) and a ‘full on-set studio experience’. Put simply, come armed with your phone.
