Lorna Luxe, as she's known on Instagram, knows a thing or two about skincare. When she's not keeping her 1.1 million follwers updated on her travels and her latest In The Style collection designs (if you're a fan of catwalk-inspired silhouettes and timeless colour palettes, you're in for a treat), Lorna can be found talking beauty. Dig in to her Instagram stories on any given day and you're likely to see her talking through a make-up routine, explaining the virtues of a new favourite beauty product discovery or panning across an enviable shelfie set-up.
More recently this year, Lorna, mid-way through an extended stay in London, spoke about how city life was wreaking havoc on her skin. Her solution? A very specific mask. If your skin is feeling dull and lacklustre this year (whose isn't?!) this mask could be the answer. On top of that Lorna has shared her winter skincare shelfie and it's all sorts of incredible. Here Lorna reveals to Grazia's beauty editor Annie Vischer the identity of said miracle mask, alongside a whole host of skincare favourites currently sitting pretty on her shelf. Trust us, when Lorna Luxe starts talking skincare, it's worth listening up!
The Winter Skincare Shelfie
That shelfie, in all its glory, is pretty much an ode to winter skincare. So what have we got? Scroll down to browse and shop the contents of Lorna Luxe's winter skincare shelfie. There are brightening serums, self-tan drops, nourishing cleansing balms packed with moringa oil, vegan daily moisturisers, you name it. If Lorna Luxe uses it, you can bet it's going to do the job.
City Vs Skin
Lorna lives outside of London and much earlier this year (prior to those tiered system days needless to say!) she and her husband had journeyed to the Big Smoke for more than a day trip for the first time in a while having spent the better part of the summer in Santorini. Remember when we used to be able to travel? Ah the good old days.
'We hadn't spent more than a night in London since January so it had been a good six months,' clarifies Lorna. And it didn't take long for her to notice the difference that pollution had on her skin. 'My skin felt dry and lacklustre. My night time routine involves double cleansing, a hyaluronic acid serum and moisturising, and yet it still felt parched afterwards. My skin was drinking up my moisturiser and by day four I started to notice spots around my nose, which isn't usual for me.'
Lorna's Skin Solution
Lorna turned to Oskia's Renaissance Mask, £60, to cure her skin woes. 'I've nicknamed Oskia's Renaissance Mask my "spa in a jar" because the smell is so incredible. The results are immediate. You massage the pink balm into your skin and as you apply it the colour changes to white. Wait for 15 minutes and let the mask do its job. It's packed with fruit acids to gently exfoliate and cleanse.' Lorna rinses it off with warm water and notes her skin feels soft and dewy straight away. 'I use this once a week normally, but when I was in London I increased that to three times a week.' Does she have any other tips and tricks for pollution-proofing skin? 'I think a great SPF is probably the most effective defence when it comes to pollution. I start in the morning with the SkinCeuticals Advanced Brightening UV Defense SPF50 Moisturiser, £45, it's the only high performance SPF that I don't suffer from breakouts with. Through the day I apply Elizabeth Arden Great 8 Daily Defense Moisturiser SPF35, £36, which is a sheer gel cream formula that I can pop on over make-up without disturbing my foundation. I use this as a hand cream too.
