Verity Bowditch is back on our screens every Monday this month in Made In Chelsea's 19th season, and can always be relied upon to initiate a few giggles along the way. Who better, then, to let us in to a few instant pick-me-up secrets. Here the pilates aficionado talks Grazia through the secret to a hearty salad, the beauty staples she'll always make room in her bathroom cabinet for, and the haven she finds at her parents' hoome in Dorset.

The song I listen to when I need a boost: Dancing In The Moonlight by Simply Red always gets me going whether it’s first thing in the morning, the start of a run, or the last song at a party.

The book I can’t put down: Aha, you mean the book I struggle to pick up…reading isn’t my forte but if I’m in the mood it will be a book to do with science; at the moment it’s Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, and a bit of a rogue one but Stephen Hawking’s The Theory of Everything: The Origin and Fate of the Universe.

My go-to feelgood recipe: A really healthy and hearty salad with chickpeas, avocado, butternut squash, bulgur wheat, beetroot, toasted nuts & seeds, hummus on the side and whatever else is in the fridge! I believe you are what you eat, so eating well keeps you healthy and happy.

The Instagram account that brings me joy: @natgeo, it’s an insight into cultures and lives of others around the world, places to aspire to visit, wildlife I’ve never witnessed. I love it as it keeps me grounded and reminds me what is important in life. As well as keeping me motivated to discover and understand as much of the world as possible.

What never fails to make me smile: My best friends!! We laugh continuously over the most stupid of things. Watching videos of us laughing in good memories never fails to pick me up and keep me smiling

My go-to supplement: I try to stay away from supplements as I believe being natural is the best way if your body isn’t telling you that you need anything extra. However as I’ve been vegetarian my whole life (I really try to stay vegan but it’s so hard when travelling or when others cook for me) and also when I remember, I take vitamin B12 as vegans tend to lack this!

My favourite at-home workout: My own Pilates class! Since we have been told to stay at home due to covid-19 I’ve been teaching twice a week on the Zoom app. I get such a buzz after a 45 minute session, a great ab workout as well as a positive mindset for the rest of the day. Anyone interested in joining can get more information on my @pilateswithverity Instagram account.

Love makes the world go round. Be kind, appreciate life! You’ve got this!

My favourite at-home self-care ritual: This consists of an all-in-one beauty blow out, the whole shebang, when I have the time! A great hair mask like Olaplex (try Olaplex No.6 Bond Smoother, £26), a full body fake tan like Tan-Luxe The Water Hydrating Self-Tan Water, £33, painting my toe nails if I haven’t had a pedicure, as well as the all-important face mask and some Liz Earle Cica Restore Skin Paste, £29, as an overnight moisturiser.

My favourite face mask: I prefer the wash off clay style masks at the moment I’ve been using The Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask, £18, obviously cruelty free and vegan!

My other failsafe skin product: Liz Earle's Superskin™ Moisturiser, £48, unfragranced for sensitive skin by liz earl, a great moisturiser and smells SO good.

Another song that makes me smile: Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine) by Klangkarussell. Turn it up really loud.

The smell that lifts my mood: The smell of the sea mmmm!

The movie I’ll happily watch again and again: I’m not a big movie person as my attention span is shocking if I’m not directly engaged! I would much rather call up a friend to chat or do an activity. But I’ve watched Elf probably a million times, each Christmas. It makes me laugh so much, I love Will Ferrell. I’m looking forward to December already.

The Netflix show I tell everyone to watch: Game Changers, I think it makes people think about their life choices after they have watched it for the better. I love animals so can’t eat them. But each to their own!

My happy place: Back by my parents place in Dorset, a 20 minute walk away to the top of the hill where you are the only person in sight surrounded by rolling green hills and sea right in front of you.

A final feelgood note from me: Love makes the world go round. Be kind, appreciate life! You’ve got this!
