It’s been twelve years since Mollie King entered the limelight thanks to The Saturdays, a girlband that consistently brought lifting, unapologetic pop to the charts throughout the Noughties. With hits like What About Us, Ego and Higher, the five-piece always knew how to raise a smile and fill a dancefloor. Since their last release, Mollie has been busy on Strictly Come Dancing and work on radio. So she knows exactly how to gain an endorphin boost through the magic of a decent playlist.
The song I listen to when I need a boost: There are so many songs I love out at the moment, and a good song can completely change my mood, but I would have to say my favourite song at the moment is Lady Gaga - Stupid Love. I also love Dua Lipa’s Break My Heart.
The book I can’t put down: I love the classics. I always love reading Pride and Prejudice.
My go-to feelgood recipe: Well, I’m a terrible cook, but I actually just put a video tutorial of how I make this dish on my Instagram…it’s my chicken stew! I often make it if I’ve had a roast dinner the night before. I use the left over chicken, potatoes, throw in some spare greens from the fridge (normally broccoli or kale), onions, garlic, and my secret ingredient….honey!
What never fails to make me smile: Oooh so many things - my dog Alfie, my sisters, a good hair day! I also love the TV show Friends. More recently I've been watching the series Cheer on Netflix which has made me want to immediately stop everything I'm doing and become a cheerleader!
My go-to supplement: I take echinacea when I’m feeling run down, and also cod liver oils when I remember!
My favourite at-home workout: I love the Peloton bike. I have one at home and it completely changes my mood. I’m quite an anxious person and I've realised that exercise has been so good for my mental health. It just gives me a chance to reset. I’m also trying to do more bodyweight exercises and put them on my Instagram Stories for anyone who's trying to stay fit and healthy at home.
My feel-good at-home beauty routine: I love giving my skin the chance to breathe. There are so many gorgeous products out there, but I tend to love oils on a day off. It’s definitely not the most flattering look as you have an incredibly shiny face, but a look worth doing while you’re in the comfort of your own home! I like Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, £40, and Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil, £45.
Embrace who you are, there’s only one of you!
My fail-safe face mask: I love the masks by SK-II. (SK-II Facial Treatment Mask Pack Of 2, £48.)
Another song that makes me smile: I love the new song from Little Mix - Break Up Song. It just makes me want to dance!
The smell that lifts my mood: I love Penhaligon’s Lothair 100ml, £144. Having said that, controversially I also love the smell of a wet dog as it makes me think they’ve had a great time outside playing in the mud and water.
The Netflix show I tell everyone to watch: Love Is Blind!! Trust me on this one…. I also love Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee… perfect bite size episodes to have on while you make your own coffee in the morning.
My happy place: My mum’s house, with all the family over. I’m on a major countdown for this. Hoping it will be able to happen in a few months, when the time is right and everyone is safe.
A final feel good note from me: Embrace who you are, there’s only one of you!
