At this point, Boots is well known for its excellent beauty credentials. Not only does the retailer appear to be opening slick new bricks and mortar stores just about everywhere we look, but it’s just introduced an impressive 25 new beauty brands to its shelves. Skincare, in particular, is where Boots excels. Look to No7 for starters - the viral Future Renew Range made waves last year, as did the more concise edit of targeted treatments from Derm Solutions. Now, Boots have announced the launch of its latest collection - the new Boots DermaCare Ceramides range, an edit of 7 products ‘designed to deliver intense hydration and restore skin’s natural moisture barrier.’ And the Grazia beauty team are most definitely on board.
Firstly, back to the basics. What are ceramides, the key ingredient in the range? Ceramides are essential lipids naturally found in the skin, and they are vital for maintaining a strong and healthy skin barrier. The skin barrier does exactly what its name suggests - it acts as a shield to lock in moisture and protect the skin from external aggressors. Bad news though, as your skin barrier can often become compromised (over exfoliating is just one culprit) resulting in an array of concerns, from dryness through to sensitivity. This is where the topical application of ceramides can work magic - the Boots DermaCare Ceramides range ‘harnesses the power of a triple ceramide complex (ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids) to support, restore, and balance the skin’s natural barrier for a healthy, radiant complexion.’ The edit also utilises other gold-standard ingredients such as squalene, probiotics and peptides to leave the complexion feeling softer, brighter and more hydrated.'
Joe Thorley-Mitchell, Director of Boots Brand says, ‘The Boots DermaCare brand was born in healthcare, created by pharmacists to support with symptoms of skin conditions. We’re proud to build on this heritage with a carefully curated collection of products that harness the restorative power of ceramides.’
And then, of course, there’s the affordability it all. ‘It provides skin barrier support for all skin types at the affordable price point customers expect from Boots,' confirms Thorley-Mitchell. A reminder, then, that efficacious skincare needn't equate to big money. Scroll on for our full review.
Make haste- we predict a sell-out...

Beauty Editor Rachael says: 'This cleanser could just be a new favourite of mine. I should caveat that I've only used it a few times thus far, but I do think my complexion looks brighter and more refreshed already. The texture is lightweight and creamy and it lathers up easily without stripping the skin - hyaluronic acid and vitamin E are well known for their ability to soothe and hydrate. Although I still begin my two-step cleansing routine with a cleansing balm (I'm a water-proof mascara fiend) this one works excellently as a second cleanse to melt away any last traces of make-up.'

Beauty writer Sameeha Shaikh says: 'If you're on the hunt for a pocket-friendly, fuss-free moisturiser, this dermatologically tested and non-comedogenic face salve is a worthy contender. Enriched with nourishing shea butter, barrier protecting squalene and a triple ceramide complex, I found it immediately soothed my inflammation-prone skin on application and kept things looking fresh and plump throughout the day. Not bad for £8 a pop.'

Beauty Writer Renee Washington says: 'On those days when the sun is beating down, I love to reach for the Boots moisturising lotion. It’s lightweight, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly into the skin. It pairs perfectly with my rose water toner and other serums, without causing any buildup. Plus, this lotion is a true multitasker—it saves me the hassle of applying SPF separately since it’s already included. Win win.'

Acting Beauty Director Verity says: 'Boots have clearly been listening to my skincare ingredient wish list, this serum is packed with three of my all time ingredient heroes; ceramides, hyaluronic acid and peptides. These are the ingredients I reach for daily because I know that they work to hydrate and moisturise my skin as well as protect it. With a really lovely gel-like texture that layers well under moisturiser, this is a great everyday serum for looking after skin without using anything too active. A triple threat.'

Beauty Editor Rachael says: 'If your complexion feels tight and dry after cleansing then this serum could be just the ticket - consider it the perfect pre-moisturiser treat. I've been pressing it into my skin in the mornings and following with my moisturiser and SPF. Again, the tripe ceramide complex gets to work - I noticed an improvement in radiance after the first time I used it. Finding a great serum for only £7 isn't easy - but I think I've succeeded.

Beauty Editor Rachael says: 'This eye balm is a joy to use. The texture is rich and luxurious without feeling tacky or uncomfortable. I've been applying it around the contour of my eyes using my ring finger - gentle tapping motions work best here where the delicate skin is concerned. It contains probiotics and chamomile to soothe and brighten. It's particularly great for taking down morning puffiness.'

Beauty Editor Rachael Martin says: ‘I get through face mists like there’s no tomorrow. I’m always spritzing myself in a hefty dose of the stuff. Dermatologically tested and non-comedogenic, this one is a dream for my sensitive, blemish prone skin. The fact that it comes in at a mere £6 genuinely thrills me - because it’s absolutely excellent. I’ve popped it on my desk and mist it whenever I need a quick hit of radiance or a moment of calm. It’s soothing and moisturising - without ever feeling sticky or uncomfortable. Did I mention it’s only £6?!’
