Would You Get Matching Manicures With Your Best Friend?

Move over glazed doughnut nails, there's a new manicure in town

Selena Gomez and Nicola Peltz

Nicola Peltz Beckham and Selena Gomez are proving to be the unlikely duo we never knew we needed. What began with a sun-filled luxury yacht escape to the coast of Mexico has evolved into full fledged best friend territory with regular love-declaring Instagram reminders, in case you didn't get the message. They've been friends for some time of course, but now they have the nails to prove it.

Earlier this week, their mutual manicurist Tom Bachik (best friends share nail techs too, didn't you know?), helped Nicola bring in her 28th birthday with a fresh trend-setting mani which he dubbed the 'Blizzard French'. The new take on a classic French manicure easily stole the spotlight amid all the Instagram Stories and grid posts that brimmed with balloons, pink baked goods and unicorn cakes.

Just a day after, the celebrity manicurist shared a heart-warming post of the two besties with their nails and pouts on full display, captioning it 'Nails by me 💅🏼', he then followed up with an image of a fresh set he created on Selena ahead of the Golden Globes Awards.

Both manicures shared an uncanny resemblance, so much so we wouldn't be surprised if Tom did their nails at the same time. Nicola's Blizzard nails are an ombre take on the classic French tipped look complete with a frosted finish. To create the look, he started with Mia Secret's Almond Extension Gel Tips, £12, before moving on to a few coats of the brand's Gelux Gel Polish in Rose Petal and White, £11 each, layering the shades strategically to build the colour fading finish. Next came a sparkly, snowflake-like topcoat.

Selena's nails packed the same shimmer, if not more given the occasion. Tom started by using Aprés Nail GelX tips in a natural, medium stiletto before softening the shape up. He then moved on to layering two thin coats of Aprés Nail's Gel Colour in Forgotten Film - N03.  To finish, Tom says he 'added a coat of non-wipe glossy gel Top Coat and statically placed a fine glitter and Swarovski pixie dust to give a bit of sparkle and dimension'. While Aprés Nail products aren't available in the UK, we'd argue any gel polish in a pretty nude will do, the real star of the show is the pixie dust, which you can pick up from Sephora for £69.95, here.

If you're looking for a glistening replacement to summer's viral glazed donutmanicure, look no further than these icy options.

This pretty pink makes for the perfect base colour. It's pigmented enough to be noticeable on the nail, without overwhelming the look.
