Victoria Beckham is a bona fide beauty aficionado. The pop culture icon launched her eponymous beauty brand Victoria Beckham Beauty - which she co-founded with industry powerhouse Sarah Creal - back in 2019, and since then it has delivered gutsy beauty launch after beauty launch, read: skincare collaborations with Augustinus Bader and make-up formulas that repeatedly tick boxes for seasoned beauty editors the world over - no mean feat. But it's not just her carefully curated line-up of Victoria Beckham Beauty products that continue to make their mark on the cosmetics landscape. VB is a beauty idol in her own right. The skincare tips she posts to Instagram reach far and wide. She has an eye-popping 30 million followersand counting. Her signature make-up looks inspire everyone from baby boomers to the Gen Z set.

Take her signature smoky eye, for example. Victoria, herself, describes the look as 'soft, smoky, eye-opening, and a bit undone.' 'I love a lot of blended liner under my lashes,' she adds. If she could give it a name? 'the clean, yet undone smoky eye,' she says.

I love playing make-up artist

'My eyes have always been part of my signature look,' says Victoria, 'I love being creative and playing with colour, finish and shadows,' all prerequisites for the founder of a globally renowned beauty brand. Victoria credits her passion for make-up to years spent in the company of top tier beauty professionals. 'I learned a lot about techniques and what works for my eyes while in the make-up chair,' she says, 'I've always loved beauty, so over the years I've tried to learn as much as I can. I love playing make-up artist.'

For Victoria, the impact of her signature eye look goes far beyond looking good in front of the camera. 'It makes me feel instantly polished,' she says, 'and like I've had eight hours sleep even though I typically get far less!. It makes me feel like the best version of myself.'

How To Apply Victoria Beckham's Signature Smoky Eye

Victoria Beckham speaks exclusively to Grazia and reveals her tried-and-tested technique for applying the smoky eye look she's now synonymous with.

1. The Brightener

'Once I've applied my base reach for my new Victoria Beckham Beauty Instant Brightening Waterline Pencil, £22, and take it along my lower waterline. It neutralises any redness and whitens my eyes. It's a nearly undetectable touch that pulls my look together, whether I'm wearing no make-up or full on glam.'

2. The Shadow

'I pick up my Victoria Beckham Beauty Smoky Eye Brick in Signature, £50. I use the lightest shade as a primer, the pink shade all over my lid, and the mid-tone brown to contour my eyelids. I add a dusting along my lash line and under my lower lash line too, to achieve the smoky look.'

3. The Flick

'I take the darkest blue shade from theVictoria Beckham Beauty Smoky Eye Brick in Royal, £50, and I use a super angled brush to line my lashes with it and add a small flick to the outer corner of my top lash line.'

4. The Liner

'I go over my upper lash line with my Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner in Ash, £22. The formula is super creamy and sometimes all I need to do is use the blender, or even my finger, to smudge it out. When it sets, it doesn't budge.'

5. The Mascara

'I add lashings of Victoria Beckham Beauty Future Lash Mascara, £26.'

6. The Brows

'I never go without a bit of a brow, I am naked without it. I love a full, straight brow, I think it looks quite modern. I start by brushing them through to tame any strays, then I fill them in with a brow pencil and finish with a laminating gel. I love how it locks the shape in place.'

'I distinctly remember the first time a makeup artist used a nude pencil along my waterline. It was preparing for the 2015 British Fashion Awards. I looked instantly polished and like I'd had eight hours sleep (far from it!). I've been searching for the perfect clean waterline pencil ever since.' - Victoria Beckham.

'Satin Kajal Liner is the most versatile product in my makeup bag. The creamy formula glides on effortlessly so I can achieve whatever eye look I'm in the mood for: a little flick, a rimmed, lived-in look or smudged-out smoky smoulder. And once it's set, it doesn't budge all day. It's literally summer-proof!' - Victoria Beckham.

'I was tired of my mascara being unable to keep up—always smudging, flaking, or harming lashes. The perfect mascara is something I've had in my head since day one, and to create my own, I wanted to reimagine what I needed from the ground up. We nailed it with Future Lash. A clean formula, with plant-based polymers, for ultra-black, fluttery lashes, and unlike anything I've tried. It's an instant essential, it's that good.' - Victoria Beckham.
