Could the powerful, classic and universally loved red lip ever be replaced? According to Taylor Swift, absolutely. While the singer has long had a penchant for the ruddy tone, so much so, legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath has been responsible for creating some of the singer's most iconic red lip looks (read: her bedazzled lip in the _I Don’t Wanna Live Foreve_r music video and allegedly that kiss-proof moment at the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens play-offs game). In fact, McGrath is so invested in Swift's red lip game, she created the sell-out Pat McGrath Labs ‘Taylor-Made’ Lip Kit, £56, in collaboration with the songstress after the two teamed up for her Bejeweled music video, so all the Swifties could get in on the action.

But that all appears to be a thing of the past, as the 14-time Grammy Award winner marks the coming of her 12th studio album_, The Life of a Showgirl_, with a brand new look. Announcing the news during an appearance on boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce's podcast New Heights, Swift shedded her trademark red lip for orange. We know Swift likes to drop Easter eggs to tease what she's got cooking, like exiting the stage through an orange door on the last night of her Eras tour in 2024 (when one door, or rather era, closes another opens etc.), but wearing an orange lip to announce the news feels more like a commitment than a mere innuendo.

The colour clearly holds significance. Speaking on the podcast, Swift explains, 'I’ve just always liked it, Jason. It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.'

While Swift and her go-to make-up artist Lorrie Turk have remained tight lipped on the exact shade of orange the star has been sporting of late, Turk previously confirmed via Instagram Stories that she has been known to use the now discontinued Nars Matte Lipstick in Morocco on Swift, a warm toasted cinnamon shade. Fret not if you're looking to recreate the look, as other beauty experts have chimed in with alternatives. Ash Walker uses the Hermès Rouge Hermès Satin Lipstick in Orange Boîte, £50.40, for a vibrant finish.

As Swift ushers in a new beauty look for TS12, it seems she's not the only one walking on the warmer side. Rare Beauty just launched a Cheek & Lip Set in collaboration with Tajín®, £29, so you can take your obsession with the Mexican seasoning and sauce to the next level. A year in the making, the kit features two full-size new exclusives, including the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Chamoy (a deep reddy brown) and the Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss in Clásico (a terracotta that flexes with copper and gold shimmer). Speaking on the launch, brand founder Selena Gomez, explains, 'This collab is a celebration of what makes us unique—our culture, our energy, and the moments that bring us together. Just like Tajín®, these shades bring boldness, warmth, and a spark of joy to every occasion.'

Similarly, It-Girl minimal beauty brand Refy has expanded its signature orange-toned offerings with the addition of the new Limited Edition Lip Gloss in [Topaz]{href='https://refybeauty.com/products/lip-gloss?' target='_blank' rel='noreferrer noopener nofollow' class='add-referrer-link'}, £16, which joins the already bestselling glow-giving Gloss Highlighter in Topaz, £20, for a full monochromatic sun-kissed moment. It's clear, orange arrived just in time to help us soak up the last of summer, thanks Taylor Swift.

A blend of a moisturising complex that includes candelilla wax and plant oils, plus white mulberry extract means this takes care of lips, while highly-concentrated pigments leave them coated with a single swipe.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'Hermès' Rouge Hermès lipstick collection is pure decadence. Aside from feeling and looking ultra-luxe in your hands thanks to quality hard wear and weighty bullet, the formula itself goes a long (long) way. Colour pay off is achieved with just one swipe and it lasts, plus it feels comfortable on the lips no matter how much you pack it on. The Orange Boîte is unique and instantly eye catching. If you want to sport Swift's new look, look no further.'

Pros

  • Luxe formula and packaging
  • Vibrant orange shade

Cons

  • High price point

In what may just be the most exciting lip collab of summer, Rare Beauty has teamed up with viral Mexican seasoning brand Tajín®, to bring us a spicy, tangy lip kit good enough to make your mouth water. Tajín®'s well-loved Clásico Seasoning and Chamoy Sauce have been reimagined with two new exclusive products in one single kit.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'Admittedly, I never thought I needed a lip gloss that emulated the warmth of Tajín's brilliantly addictive Clásico Seasoning, but I stand corrected. This terracotta gloss is loaded with copper and gold shimmer for a high-shine iridescent shimmer that will see you through the rest of summer.'

Pros

  • High-shine, comfortable gloss
  • Hydrating finish

Cons

  • Limited edition only

A combination of hyaluronic acid and shea butter makes this lip glazer a comfortable yet ultra-glossy-never-sticky handbag essential. Now available in a limited edition warm shade, it boasts golden shimmer for a summer-ready finish.

Sameeha Shaikh, beauty writer, says: 'I am obsessed with Refy's Lip Gloss and have a particular inclination towards the Clear shade, but Topaz has totally swayed me thanks to its promise of delivering all the same benefits of the original (a comfortable, high-shine finish that feels lightweight) but with the addition of a warm hue and golden shimmer. I'm sold.'

Pros

  • Lightweight and comfortable wear
  • High-shine finish

Cons

  • Limited edition
