Here at Grazia HQ, we’ve got a lot of time for Primark’s beauty offering. With impressive formulations at bargain price points, all certified with the Leaping Bunny cruelty free badge (as of July 2018), there’s definitely more than a few key products that deserve a place in your make-up bag – from lipstick to foundation, affordable make-up brushes and more.

As for the latest products to hit the Primark shelves, we wanted to see if they stood up to our old faithfuls from the range - so we tested the entire summer 2020 make-up offering, with the aim of whittling it down to our top three products. Primark Double Coverage Matte Foundation, Longwear Matte Finish, £5 in 16 shades

We often tell our friends, colleagues, strangers in the street – if you're going to invest money in one particular part of your make-up regime, make it your foundation and concealer. These are the products that sit on your skin all day, covering the biggest surface area. And it is true that high-end formulas tend to be packed with more skincare grade ingredients BUT… we were uniformly wowed with this nifty number. Matte, longwearing, ample coverage – it ticked all its boxes and delivered what it says on the bottle. A total snip at £5, it's well worth a whirl if you're in the market for a matte, longwearing base.

Primark Envy Matte Lipstick in Shock, £1.50 in 16 shades

Yes, yes, YES. The colour payoff of this lipstick is up there with some ten, if not twenty, times its price point. Now, that's impressive make-up maths! So yes – colour payoff, beautiful cherry red shade, pleasingly matte but notably non-drying, smells of sweet vanilla (if you're into the scent, a plus point), fairly slick packaging. Have we just found the best most affordable statement red lipstick? We think so…

So, there you have it - three summer staples well worth scooping up, giving you change from a tenner. Bargain! (Available in store only)
