At Versace’s Paris couture show last month there was one topic on everyone’s lips (pardon the pun). Yep, we’re talking about the makeup look, and in particular the glittering wine lips. Queen of backstage beauty, Pat McGrath created the look on the likes of Bella Hadid and Karen Elson, and Instagram nearly had a meltdown.
Four weeks on, and many social media teasers later, the woman herself has revealed the secret to the viral Versace look - her brand new lip production collection named Pat McGrath Labs Lust 004.
McGrath, known for her experimental application techniques, has designed the products to be worn alone or layered together to create a customisable and unique finish.
'I wanted to create the ultimate editorial kit that takes you from nothing all the way to the most extreme, jeweled, three-dimensional mouth,' McGrath told *American Vogue. *
The collection is dedicated entirely to transforming your lips and at the core of the 11-piece collection are the 5-piece lip kits. Nothing like lip kits of the past, these include two matte lipsticks, a vinyl gloss, metallic gold pigment, and microfine glitter. In other words, everything you need to create McGrath’s signature shimmering lip look. Available in a choice of shades, you can pick between flesh (nude), vermillion venom (red), and bloodwine (vampy oxblood) color families, and these will set you back around £45.
If you’re not quite ready to commit to a whole kit (or are torn between colours) you can also purchase the lipsticks individually (approx £19). On the other end of the spectrum, super fans can buy the ‘everything kit’ for about £114. That, as the name suggests, includes every single product.
Available via Pat McGrath’s website and selected Sephora store, the collection launches on the 30th July. We predict a stampede and a sell-out time to rival Kylie’s.
